The coffee and sandwiches here are top notch. They support a wide variety of local vendors including Taza Chocolate. The inside of the store is beautiful, welcoming, and well laid out. I recommend Darwin’s to all friends and family visiting Cambridge.
Someone stole my sandwich but they were happy to make me a new sandwich. These guys are a real neighbourhood place. Love to all Darwin’s locations.
I come here often because I work in the area. The quality of the food and the kind/friendly staff keep me a regular. I crave the sandwiches and the really yummy lattes ?? so good ??Also, my baby loves the people watching here, like me lolz
Vegetarian options: So yum! When I was pregnant, the veggie options were super clutch
Kid-friendliness: I'm a regular and know most of the staff by name. Love them! Hard workers
Parking: Sometimes the metered spots out front are open, but I usually park at a meter on a side street
Excellent decaf iced latte. Each bean has its own brewing profile.
Had brunch here. Tasty breakfast sandwich served fresh and hot. They have pastries that sound delicious, but haven't tried them yet. I also had tea with oat milk on the side counter that I could add myself to taste. Pleasantly air conditioned in the hot weather.
Fist time breakfast : MassdArt sandwich . Spacious not crowded Tuesday AM.
1 of my 1st times back since the 3 lockdowns started; little has changed. Exceptional sandwiches & good specialty coffee drinks. (Signage still says too little about options, e.g., that you can order 1/2 a sandwich.) Prices are somewhat high. Fun, academic vibe.
I just unwrapped my $13 Soldier's Field sandwich to find the sticker still on the apple! (see photo) I remember when this place was good quality, sad to see it's gone downhill. Save your money and get a sandwich somewhere else.
Unfortunately this location doesn’t meet the same standard as some of the others from my experience. I stopped by and not only were they out of the meat for the sandwich I ordered, they were out of bread. All bread. A sandwich shop that has no bread. Needless to say I wasted 15 minutes in line to have to leave and go somewhere else.
I’ve been coming here for a decade plus, and I’ve generally been happy with their portion sizes and sandwich flavors. However, today I got the Radcliffe, and it is anything but the aforementioned - it’s ridiculously small, the biscuit crumbles as you eat it, and it lacked any real flavor. All that for $9.50? You’ve got to be kidding me!I’ll always give them another shot, but I highly recommend avoiding this breakfast sandwich.

I think my nickname for the place is all too appropriate: “Darwin’s, Survival of the Richest.” That, notwithstanding, I continue to patronize it because the sandwiches at all their locations are the best (though I wish pumpernickel were an option) and their Florentines pretty special. I might also add that the service is as slow as it is personable—that is to say, very!
Moca review:November 24, 2021Excellent mocha! Great foam layer, nice decoration from the barista on top, and good balance of espresso and chocolate all the way down. Seems odd to make it with chocolate milk, but it means there is no residue at the bottom of the cup and no change in flavor as you drink it. It’s a standard thing at the Darwins Cafes. They use chocolate milk from Thatcher Farms, which hits my sweet spot for being on the dry side and not too sweet.
Solid selection of drinks and sandwiches! Be sure to get there before Noon on weekdays to try the breakfast variety. Nice atmosphere that isn’t as crowded as other locations near Harvard Square. Plenty of places to sit, work, study, sip, and chat!
Overall good but way too expensive. I paid more than 12$ for a small piece of sourdough toast with avocado and an egg… I don’t understand their pricing - a bagel would have been the same price even though it has 2 pieces of bread!
Glad I did. Great breakfast sandwich, made fresh. Latte wasn't the best, but ok. Another one located in Harvard Square area.
