The student center is a great spot on campus to hang out and work. The building recently got renovated and looks really clean and modern with a cool mezzanine. There are a couple of dining options including a Dunkin’ on the first floor and a variety of stores on the second. The second floor also has a cafeteria with plenty of seating options. There are plenty of open spaces to study on all floors, but I highly recommend the 5th floor for students - it has lots of seating and even small rooms with whiteboards for group activities.

A girl gave me her number in the form of a differential equation. I called the number according to my answer and it was my grandma on the other end.

You will have chance to get free food on 3rd floor at least once in a week ?

Great space to have your meal on the 2nd floor.

Stratton Student Center is clean, light. and spacious. There are plenty of tables and chairs on the first and second floor for people to socialize or study. LaVerde's the small grocery market, Dunkins, and the Coop are still on the first floor. The furniture is new and fresh.

It was such a beautiful day. Friendly and warm experience.

The student center is both better and worse than when I was a student there in the late 70s on the positive side it's much more accessible with ramps and better elevators. The convenience store and fast food options are, I guess an upgrade to the old coffee house but there's no longer a game room. There are some nice big spaces but it seems not great for studying. I think the copy print services area has been subsumed by covid testing.

The Stratton Student Center (also known as W20, the Student Center, or dubtwen) is a multi-use building featuring several administrative offices, many student activities offices, several study spaces, several bookable multi-purpose spaces, and several "food" vendors. The offices and study spaces are the best parts of the building. One study space even features several rooms for group discussion. Unfortunately, one of the best spaces in the building, a really nice Athena cluster, was swapped out for a general study space, a clear downgrade. The worst part of the building is the "food" vendors. There aren't really any actual food shops in the Student Center...except for Shawarma Shack. That place is actually quality. Everywhere else is terrible in one way or another. At least the Subway that had infamously bad staff attitude, not to mention staff hygiene, has closed. La Verde's, on the other hand, is a stain on MIT's campus. Almost everything is overpriced (except Arizona Iced Tea is, amazingly, still 99¢ as it should be), and sometimes the staff at the sandwich bar are yelling at each other. The place is also incredibly sketchy, I've had cashiers tell to sell me on VIP programs that did not exist, and if you get a receipt from La Verde's, it will for some reason not give you the right zip code and at the bottom it gives an absolutely meme URL. You could also try to see how many things are wrong with the picture of a Caesar Salad from La Verde's attached. The basement has a convenient post office, as well as a place to get hair cuts that I've never gone to but have only heard negative things about. The staircases in the building are quite cool. The elevators are quite slow.

Dunkin donuts did not have someone named Duncan working there. Biggest disappointment of my life. Sad!

The grocery store had my favorite granola and snacks. The Dunkins is really good, too. Note that as of Summer 2021 you need an authorized MIT ID to get in to the building.

This place seems to me to be a fairly average student center, and it used to be a 5/5 because of this magnificent place on the second floor called Café Spice, which was since #cancelled by MIT, I assume... maybe I'll come back and re-rate it if the new restaurants here are fire, but for now it's just closed most of the time and only houses a measly Dunkin.

I wrote my Master's thesis while waiting for the elevator.
