Initially not being greeted by a host/hostess was offputting for me and my seven guests, but our experience at Gran Gusto notable improved once we were all seated. Our servers managed to be quite attentive considering how busy it was. The ambiance was warm and vibrant, and the food outstanding! Everyone enjoyed their meal. I will definitely return with friends who appreciate fine but cozy Italian dining.
My family and I have been customers of Gran Gusto for many years. The food is always outstanding. The menu is not overwhelming with too many selections, there are enough to satisfy everyone's taste. The restaurant offers refined choices made with fresh ingredients. That said, if you are in the mood for a good pizza, they make pizzas in their wood burning oven. This is not a "spaghetti and meatball" restaurant, it is authentic Italian! The wine list is exceptional and the bar area is a great place to grab a cocktail. Antonio and Luigi (co-partners) will greet you at the door and share the menu specials for the evening. They often stop by your table to chat and will ask if you are enjoying your meal. Gran Gusto is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Cambridge/Boston area, good food, good service, reasonably priced.
My friend and I had a lovely dinner at Gran Gusto. The ambiance is very charming. The waiter was attentive and greeted us in Italian and even taught us some Italian. The bread was tasty and olive oil was flavorful. I had them make me a non-alcoholic fruit drink and they complied. My friend had a mixed drink which was delicious. We split the uva salad which was fresh and light. She had the short rib pasta and I had lasagne for entrees. Both were delicious and obviously made using multi step cooking processes by a talented chef. Portions were large enough for us to take home leftovers. We shared a tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was light and flavorful. Overall great experience. We will be back.
Terrific Italian restaurant with exceptionally fresh food, unusual wine list, and great service. It is such a luxury to be able to take as long as you want over the last glass of wine, without being brough the check. We'll be back.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. We had antipasto with meat and cheese. It was excellent. Pasta Puttanesca was wonderful as was the Chitarra made table-side in a cheese wheel. Service was outstanding!! We will go back.
Everything here was great! The atmosphere was perfect and we awere seated outside. It was beautiful then we got our food very fast and the service was phenomal. I ofc loved the margarita pizza the best but even the pasta was exceptional

We have always had fabulous meals at Gran Gusto and we have been there alot! Definitely our favorite place to eat in Cambridge. Each and every dining experience has been wonderful!
Outdoor dining at GG is a real pleasure. The service is wonderful as is the food. The menus is a bit limited but that is fine. The blackened sword fish is OTW. ☹️
Wonderful night, Sat outside. Attentive server, refreshing Aperol with flavorful calamari (not fried) followed by mouthwatering orecchiette with sausage and Brussels sprouts. And had to top it off with tiramisu and a chocolate something!! Definitely recommend and will return
Have dined at Gran Gusto several times in several different locations in the dining room both indoors and outdoors. It has always been very busy on all occasions I have visited and have always dined with between 6 to 8 people. Parking is plentiful behind the restaurant. They have excellent pizza and pasta dishes and my Italian friend who has been in the US for about 3 years loves this place.
The calamari appetizer is refreshingly not deep fried. My daughter enjoys the margherita pizza. I had the nerano pizza which I have never seen in other restaurants in Boston consisting of some thin zucchini slivers and Provolone de Monaco which was delightful. Also tried the pistachio and mortadella pizza which was also very good. My grade school aged daughter has also had the ragu and the chitarra. She did not like the chitarra in the wheel of cheese due to the pecarino being too sharp and sheepy for her palate. She loved the ragu which was very pleasantly al dente. I have had the scialatelli sea food pasta and few times and enjoy it and it seems consistently made. Other members of my party have had the lasagna and the orechiette and enjoyed those dishes.
My daughter loves the torta caprese an almond flour chocolate cake with vanilla Gelato.
All in all the servers are pleasant; in the summer evenings the patio is a delightful place to dine. Great for families, medium sized groups, and, children.

We had an authentic italian experience. Food and service were excellent and we got excellent recommendations for ordering wine and amaro, from the kind Italian gentleman from Calabria. It is the region where the wonderful wine he recommended was from
We were greeted by a delightful hostess and enoyed excellent hospitality all evening. Our waitress provided keen insight to the most delicious options on the menu. We were extremely satisfied with the delectable homemade pasta and swordfish. We will definitely be back for more. Thank you!

I ordered a few pizzas for pickup with an estimated 45 minute pick up time. After arriving at the scheduled time, I was told they could not make one of the pizzas. They had 45 minutes to call about this, instead of waiting until I arrive, and then start making the order. Completely ridiculous.
To top it off, after I received the pizzas, two of them were incorrect. This wasn't even a particularly busy night. The restaurant is in a nice location so if you are local it might be okay to stop in for a snack or a drink, but if you are just looking for pizza this is not the right place.
