As we have observed repeatedly, whether intentional or not, Indian restaurants tend to evoke a theme. Indian Castle (IC) is located on Mass Ave opposite a bong dispensary in the heart of the commercial black hole between Central and Harvard squares. Prior to our arrival, IC was hosting a children's birthday party. Indeed, the restaurant staff had yet to remove residual party stars and spirals from the interior when we arrived. While these party items might suggest that IC is a family friendly restaurant, upon further inspection, we observed distinctly adult undertones. For example, the menu prominently featured the "vaggie" platter and non-"vaggie" platter. In addition, the artwork almost exclusively consisted of Krishna and one of his many (many thousands) of lady friends. Notably, all the females depictions displayed ample underboob (very dirty!). After recovering from our initial shock, we proceeded to order. The menu declared proudly that "all spices used are natural," and thus we did not hesitate order the vegetarian eigendish, aloo gobhi ($12), as extra extra extra spicy. We were dismayed to learn that their spices were not only natural, but lacked potency -- the aloo gobhi lacked not only spice, but also any other discernable flavor. The veggie biryani ($12) sported good potato cookitude, but also appeared to be seasoned with these same tasteless "spices." The lamb coconut korma ($14) was the lone highlight of the meal, containing well cooked lamb, and very creamy sauce. The badami naan ($4) was also quite good, containing a mix of cantaloupe and poppy seeds. The peshawari naan ($3.5), on the other hand, in addition to ample coconut, contained literally infinite sugar, making it an extreme dessert item. The meal was rounded out by the mango lassi ($3), which contained ample ice and a rich, viscous texture. Despite bit a few critical missteps in the mains, India Castle is a solid four-samosa restaurant with a reasonable two-rupee price tag. In Berkeley, restaurateurs typically hid the dirtier elements in the pillow-laden back rooms; at IC, however, the sexual undercurrent is prominently on display in both the interior décor and the menu. Clearly survival on the forgotten stretch of Mass Ave requires diversification, and IC appears proud to serve customers across the age spectrum with birthday parties, Indian fare, and age-appropriate entertainment. Note that India Castle has been closed -- wherever shall we go for our "birthday parties"?

We went here the other night with some friends and I got the Vegetable Biryani and it was great!! We also got an excellent bread assortment. I sampled some of my friend's food as well and it was pretty good. I would go here again.

Never ever order your food online from this place!!!! I would suggest to go to the restaurant and eat. Takes forever for them to deliver your food.

This place rocks! I have been coming here for buffet for almost 6 years and have had a great experience. The vegetarian selections which are usually three or more are excellent... Staff Always gives me friendly service ... I really enjoy sometimes watching football and eating Indian buffet here on Sundays, They're always showing the patriots games. Great place to go for a buffet and the soup is excellent too! They also include chai tea

What's fantastic buffet! Six different main dishes -- including Saag which is our favorite. The Saag was perfect - flavorful with just the right amount of spicy heat. The tandoor chicken and warm naan were absolutely delicious - and the desserts and chai tea were great. Ever since Bombay Cafe on Mass Ave moved away, we've been hunting for an alternative. This is IT! $8.95 is very reasonable given the excellent quality of the dishes and service. We're definitely making this our new Indian restaurant - can't wait to digest all these dishes so we can come back again!

Solid Indian buffet choice on Mass Ave. Appreciated the great service, and good food. A great choice if you in a hurry, too.

Buffet: not the best I've ever had, but cheap and has a wide section, along with a yummy milky chai tea jug. Service was very attentive, and I would return for for the 7-day lunch buffet for 8,95 any time.

We came here for lunch buffet yesterday. The price was super affordable- $8.95. The food seemed home cooked and simple but still pretty decent. My favorite dish was the aloo gobi. The food was luke warm and the gulab jamun dessert was cold which I wasn't too happy about. But, our waiter was very nice and I could see fresh naan coming out and some dishes refilled after a couple minutes. This place isn't India Pavilion but it's not bad if you need a quick Indian/Pakistani buffet fix.

Tried this place today and I thought it was really good. The selection of dishes was great and there's also soup / chai tea as well. Cost of the lunch buffet is on-par (8.95) with neighboring options. Service was pretty attentive; would come here again (or regularly if it wasn't as far from work).

Moldy samosa manager returned my $ and apologized. Just be aware of what you eat, I unfortunately ate half of it :(

The stale papadum and the dry lamb in rogan josh were the down sides to our meal. We did get fresh papadum after asking but I got the feeling they served the stale stuff after we left. Sauces were nice and the rest of the meal was okay but we won't return anytime soon with so many other Indian restaurants in the area. I remember the all you can eat buffet having okay food so perhaps if I'm hungry and need something immediately.

Ordered delivery, the delivery guy did not want to park his car so asked to pick up food. If he would have asked nicely I would have picked it up. But he was rude and told me if I want to eat, I have to do it. Never ordering food from here or even visiting their restaurant.

I've had a lunch buffet with my friend here . I'm a big fan of curry so this restaurant made me so excited before I go eat. Lunch menu was 8.95dollars which is good . And they have 4-5kinds of different style of curries and tandoori chicken , Nan and some salads. Taste was good but I realized why the price is cheap . Because curry needs NAN or rice to eat with , so it make us full too fast . :) it's good place to try once at least !!
