I tried this restaurant today and loved it. The fish and octopus were super fresh so I highly recommend trying anything with seafood in it. We also had a mushroom tofu dish, a couple of salads, and the strawberry tapioca dish and everything was so flavorful. A plus is the space which was really pretty and in such a nice location. I am glad to have discovered this gem of a restaurant and am definitely coming back!

Food and drinks were great, especially their dumplings. The desserts were fantastic. But be prepared to wait 15-30 mins for a table in spite of a reservation.

Had a wonderful time at Judy’s Bay! Favorite things to eat were the squid salad and mussels. Owners are the kindest people you’ll ever meet and the whole team is top notch.

We weren’t entirely sure how this would end… menu is quite different from a typical Japanese restaurant. Thanks to the helpful guidance of John, our waiter, and knowing that his adventures visiting Japan, was all about how little sleep he needed so he could enjoy more food- off to the experience we went! Sesame salad was ???. Everything shared: delectable monkfish, the skate and ribs- oh my! The special was the tuna bowl- don’t remember its proper name? but it tied the entire meal to a beautiful completion. Make reservations, enjoy the ambience…leave happy?

Judy’s Bay is one of the tastiest gems in the Cambridge area. Great for dinner with any size! I’ve been once with a small group and once for a graduation party of 10 people. Every dish is stellar. You will definitely want a bite of everything. My favorites being the Lobster Roe Pasta, Sake Chicken Fried Rice, Oyster Mushrooms, Pork Dumplings, and any Sushi/Sashimi they have. There hasn’t been one thing I haven’t liked! For the big group grad dinner we had a set menu with all our favorites, they were flexible for changes, and a great price as well. Definitely recommend and always come back when I’m visiting Boston.

We were excited to try something new. Judy's Bay is a cute little bar tucked behind MIT. We had reservations and were seated quickly. But after being seated and served our water, we were asked to move our party to another table with no explanation? What did we do? We went with the flow and were placed at a smaller table in the corner. It was odd and due to the limited space, I requested to be seated back in our original spot, again, a little weird and embarrassing. We ordered our food, and when the first item arrived, the waitress put the item on our table, and walked away, but we weren't given any utensils. I flagged someone down and chop sticks were tossed onto my plate, that is not very Japanese... But this ended up being one of two concerns with Judy's Bay. It is described as Japanese, and yes, they do have Sake and Japanese beer. But the items we ordered did not have anything to do with Japanese cuisine. I have travel for over 25 years throughout Japan, Singapore, Korea and Vietnam, and the food was American with a touch of soy sauce here and a little miso there. I have stayed with a number of families in Japan, and the food at JB was not like anything I have had in Japan. The second concern was the lack of service. Water, thank you. But if your first course is a stew based pork shoulder in a heavy miso base, clearing the small tapas-styled plates for mussels (not Japanese) should be clear. I am not trying to hate on Judy's Bay, but the lights are too dim (even for young eyes), the theme should be refined, and it used to be that a tip was based on the level of "service". It's weird at the end of the meal to be told to pay at the front, like a lunch counter.

Kim & Lucas was very welcoming and nice, the soup to start the meal was awesome. I ordered crab fried rice for dinner, and omg it was very filling and delicious, I had leftovers to take home! The mochi for dessert was the final touch to complete my amazing dinner!!!

I’ve been to Judy’s Bay twice now and both times it was a standout meal! My favorite things that I’ve tried were the seared scallops, negitoro rice, crab fried rice, and the uni temaki. I also enjoyed the matcha fizz drink. The restaurant is very intimate and thoughtfully designed. Would highly recommend for a date night or special occasion!

One word: WOW!Lobster roe cream pasta (with fresh crab added) was spankingly good - creamy, umami, a heavy hitter on flavor and satisfaction. Shiso pork dumplings melted in the mouth, encased in fresh silky dumpling skins. And gojuchang mussels?? Yea you bet calories don't count when you're slurping the last few drops of that sauce.Every single dish we ordered was a hit with the group. Unfortunately we were so full we didn't have time to try dessert but you bet I'll be back for that house made mochi - tell me who else serves fresh homemade mochi in Boston? That's right, probably nobody else but Judy's Bay. <3

Delectable, fresh take on Japanese food in a cozy intimate setting. Our drinks were lovely, and both the menu staples and specials were delicious. We particularly enjoyed the lobster roe pasta and skate wing. We will surely be coming back for a future date night!
