Seating at the rooftop was perfect! It was shady with a breeze. Food was well prepared. The guacamole was chunky and delicious! Highly recommend!
Food was delicious, small place though , but with great service! Recommended for birthdays ! Birthday was celebrated there & it was beyond great ! 😊
Margs and food were very average. Our server wasn't friendly or accommodating. Over priced
I am gluten-free due to celiac, and this was by far one of the best experiences I have had eating out! The food was great, the service was great, and the churros stole the show!
I was really excited for Mex as I saw it had a 4.5 star rating however I would give it 2.5 stars at best. My margarita was watered down and the food was underwhelming. Would not recommend.
The food was so good! The drinks were so good! We love Mexican food and this was top notch. The service was great and everyone on staff was nice!
Mex Taqueria & Bar is literally located in Technology Square area of Cambridge, MA where I grew up. Nice to finally see this area of Cambridge growing and thriving with eateries, restaurants, and more. It's been a very long time coming! The ambience at MT&B was wonderful. We booked our reservation for Valentine's Day, and was very surprised to be seated within 10 mins especially on a very busy evening. We were seated on the 3rd floor where we got to enjoy the views of the city in an intimate setting. Our waiter (soooo sorry I forgot his name) was knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating with the questions we had, recommendations, and he checked in on us at perfect times to ensure we were okay. The food was delicious! The Esquite Street Corn was amazing, the Al Pastor tacos were yummy... and I absolutely LOVED the Mex Pina Colada. I had ordered the watermelon strawberry margarita first but didn't like but my daughter rather enjoyed. Our waiter was very accommodating -- and I can say, I have never had a pina colada like this one before... and it was PINK! Hats off the the chef, the waitstaff and the bartender. We really enjoyed our dining experience at Mex Taqueria & Bar and will definitely return again soon. We look forward to dining outside in the summer on your roof top. ( M )
One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I have never encountered a hostess as entitled and just down right rude as I did at Mex. Not only did they put us at a table that was too small for our party there were not even enough seats! We had made the reservation over a month before the evening and yet the restaurant was still not prepared for us. When the server came over and we told her we had one more person who was just parking she looked genuinely panicked as she looked over the table and saw there was literally no where to put them except on the edge by the door in everyone's way. Not just the staff's way, everyone who came or left would have had to walk through the person sitting there. Which obviously is not comfortable for anyone - not to mention the hazard if there was a fire or some other emergency. It seems the restaurant staff just don't care. To make matters worse it took about ten minutes for them to find a seat to put there. It came from outside. On a night that was about 15 degrees out. They didn't even wipe it off. Just expected someone to sit on a cold dirty chair in the middle of an entrance. Needless to say our party got up and left after that treatment so we didn't try the food. It looked okay nothing special. We ended up at the pizza place next door and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The drinks were out of this world and the food was even better. So if you want Mexican food try Mex but if you want to be treated with respect and just general decency walk right by their front door and head to Area Four - you will not be disappointed.
What do lead with?? Server Freddy (from NW Mexico) made us feel like we were in his kitchen with his mom cooking. Owner Eric picked up on my SLIGHT eye cue and came right over to make sure we were really enjoying ourselves in his restaurant. And the food: Best nachos we have ever eaten. And tacos. We've got to go back to comment on more food items. THANK YOU for making us so happy and providing a level of hospitality that many places in Boston do not understand.
Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly. We thought it would be a good idea to ensure the door to the vestibule is closed, otherwise, people sat in the front could get very cold in the winter. lastly, not a huge fan of the drinks. Got a watermelon strawberry marg and it was extremely sweet/syrup-y. I ordered an extra dirty martini next and received a classic. totally fine was just expecting a knowledgeable bartender for this kind of place.

The tacos were OUT of this world! Best birria I think I’ve ever had. My fiancé got steak and octopus+ chorizo tacos and he LOVED them. Would definitely come back!

I absolutely love this place! From brunch to dinner, they serve fantastic tacos and the best frozen margs I've had in Boston. The mango frozen margarita is especially delicious. The seating is split into an upper and lower section, with the lower section being close to the bar. The upper section is a fun spot to people watch or enjoy the motorcycle hanging from the ceiling! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food, wants a fun modern atmosphere, and loves mango margaritas :)
Went for NYE 2025. Great ambience. Have never been before. Food was flavorful and drinks were everything. Can't wait to come back when it's warm to try the roof deck. Definitely recommend. Service was friendly and had a few laughs with the table.
Good hangout with Mexican food tailored for the Boston pallet
Great service staff is super helpful.
I was excited for an authentic Mexican menu. Had the plantains, cheese dip, corn and calamari for an appetizer and octopus/chorizo tacos for dinner.
What I can say was flavor for all the dishes was vanilla flavors did not pop like Mexican cuisine usually does. I was super excited for the octopus chorizo tacos. But this turned to disappointment when the delicate grilled octopus and chorizo flavor I expected was no where to be tasted and instead overwhelmed by the sauce. Which left the taco flat.
