I never write bad reviews. As an artist who works hard for every dollar I spend, I genuinely believe in supporting restaurants, not punishing them. But this place — Passage to India — made me feel morally obligated to warn people before they waste their time, money, and sanity.
The restaurant is hidden on a random corner that is nearly impossible to find, with no designated parking and city signs everywhere threatening towing after certain hours. We arrived two hours before the towing window, thinking we were safe. We weren’t.
We walked into the restaurant at 6:45 PM and were the only guests in the entire place — and now we understand why.
The food was, frankly, shocking. I’ve eaten Indian food across India itself — from Goa restaurants to Delhi street markets — and I’ve eaten Indian food across the U.S. This was easily the worst, most Americanized, watered-down imitation I have ever had.
We asked for spice; we got runny, bland, joyless dishes with no depth, no heat, and no identity. It was “Indian-accented” food for people who don’t know what Indian cuisine is supposed to taste like.
As if bad food weren’t enough, my car was towed, costing me $250 on a trip where I had only one day in Boston. When I asked the manager what happened, they casually told me that this is “a tow zone” and that they “have parking vouchers” that could have prevented this.
Let that sink in.
They knew the parking situation is a trap.
They had vouchers.
They simply didn’t bother to tell us.
Blaming us for not seeing a worn, barely noticeable sign on the door is unacceptable. A responsible business — especially one in a high-risk tow area — warns every guest when they walk in. A simple: “If you drove, let me give you a parking pass.” They didn’t. They never even asked.
The staff were polite, but that doesn’t erase the negligence. A respectable restaurant would have compensated part of the towing fee to prevent a guest from leaving furious, especially when the food was already disappointing. Instead, they shrugged. And now I understand why the place was empty — every cent seems to matter because the business itself is struggling.
All three of us at the table were unhappy, both with the food and the experience. The night was ruined, the money wasted, and the meal completely forgettable.
I strongly warn anyone considering eating here: choose literally anywhere else. Boston has too much good food to gamble on a restaurant that can’t even warn you that your car is about to be hauled away.

true powerhouse for decades. Every location delivers incredible food, perfect portions, elevated hospitality, and cocktails that rival top bars. The sophisticated flavors and complex spices keep me coming back again and again.

My sister and I have been ordering from Passage to India for ages and decided to order takeout from Passage for dinner as a treat and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We each got chicken tikka masala that was very soupy and greasy. We ordered chicken samosas and onion samosas that tasted very oily and bland, especially the onion samosas. The rice wasn’t nearly as flavorful as it was previously either. The garlic naan we ordered had little garlic and was half the size of what we have come to expect from Passage.

Ordered on Uber Eats, gave me food poisoning for 2 days straight 💀
Service is bad, wouldn't take gift cards and wouldn't do a lunch special. Even on the gift card it has no expiration, we work at hotels down the street, we will not be recommending your restaurant anymore and make sure our guests don't go as well. Just all around bad experience.

Passage to India is one of my go-to spots! The food is always flavorful and fresh, with perfectly spiced curries and soft, warm naan. It’s super convenient too. I live right in the building by the train station, so it’s just a quick walk for me. Plus, it’s right next to the Cambridgeside mall, making it easy to grab dinner after shopping. Great food, great location, and friendly service every time!

I ordered the chicken, tiki masala and garlic naan for delivery and it’s subpar at best. The chicken is very dry. Garlic naan is also burnt around the whole side. The sauce isn’t bad but I’ve had a lot better recipes around in Boston. The worst part was it costed $35 before delivery fees. This food was by no means worth it and overpriced.
I’ll give the service three stars cause the delivery was pretty quick. I’ve never been inside so I’ll give the atmosphere two stars.

Never order anything online from this restaurant. Main part of order was missing and restaurant is closed now.
The food and service were excellent. Great food! 11 stars out of 10. This is the 3rd time I have been in to dine in. Food portions sizes allow for left overs for another meal. Awesome selection on draft beers as well as canned & bottled beers. Will definately be return for outstanding delicious culinary delights. Worth a trip there.
