During our stay in Porter Square we ate twice in this restaurant. The food was very good with a fast service!

I grew up in Thailand and have spent most of my life living between Australia and the U.S., so finding authentic Thai food can be tough but Sugar and Spice takes me right back to my childhood. I adore every dish I’ve tried but the Hor Mok has a special place in my heart. A true gem! Delicious, meaningful and unforgettable.

So I've been coming here since it opened. I went to the Grand Opening and all that jazz. I even went to the sister restaurant they had in East Cambridge for a little bit. The service was always above and beyond. However last week I can in and the music was loud so you were almost yelling at eachother and the service with horrible. I ask to have my dish a certain way that I have done many times in the pass and was told it couldn't be done. The presentation of the food including the garnish was always beautiful with a full flower etc. But the one thing for me was the food was still delicious. I forgot to take pictures of our main course. Everything came out at once which was another thing pretty aggravating so you had to eat everything at once so things wouldnt get cold. The service team is all different and at times actually like they dont understand. Not sure if its still the same owner and please forgive I forgot her name. But she was always so pleasant.

I ordered the vegetarian tom yum noodles. Great portions for the price in a fun bowl. It also had a really good flavor for being vegetarian.

This is quite literally the longest I’ve ever waited for a takeout order in my life. Don’t offer your service on uber eats if you aren’t going to give attention to people ordering online.

Disappointing Experience Despite Good Food
We visited Spice and Sugar Thai in Porter Square with a reservation for three people on a rainy, very crowded evening. At first, we were seated at a regular 4-person table, which seemed reasonable. However, after the waiter saw we had our 2-year-old with us, he insisted on squeezing us into a 2-person table with a high chair—despite the fact that we ordered three full-size entrees and appetizers. We were essentially treated like a 2-person party, which felt dismissive and uncomfortable.
The ambiance was chaotic, the service was unwelcoming and slow, and to make matters worse, the menu was incomplete—we had to search online to see all the options. While the food itself was actually very good (flavorful and well-prepared), the overall experience was frustrating and unprofessional.
Given how poorly we were treated, I can’t recommend this place. Won’t be returning, despite the quality of the food.

Got red curry and crispy duck. The curry was kinda mid to be honest— the vegetables tasted like frozen veggies and there was little to no chicken. The duck was good but a lot of it was skin and fat. The broccoli they served on the side of it also tasted like frozen vegetables from the super market

I was expecting to be blown away by the food at this restaurant but the food was pretty mediocre even bordering not good. We (3 of us) got the Tom Kha Soup, the Pad Kee Mao, the tofu triangles, the Early Grey Milk tea with boba and the Thai Milk tea with boba. The tom kha soup comes in a small bowl only a single serving and was very sweet. The pad kee mao had good flavor but was very mild. The tofu triangles were nice and crispy and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The teas weren’t great and the boba was bad. We also ordered a Panang curry but they forgot to bring it out to us. They were really busy as it was a Saturday night so you could tell the service staff was flustered.
We love it. Good good good service.
