We had an amazing breakfast at Friendly Toast! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu had a fantastic variety, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. It’s clear they put thought into both the flavors and presentation. Overall, a wonderful experience – we’ll definitely be back!

We are big fans of The Friendly Toast, but this location failed miserably! We were staying at a nearby hotel and intentionally sought out the Friendly Toast as we have been to multiple locations and always have a great experience. We decided to sit at the bar and avoid the wait. What a mistake that turned out to be. It was almost empty at the bar with one young man working there, and we were completely ignored for over 15 minutes. We were not even acknowledged. I asked if we could move to a table, and the hostess said yes, but the only table I have available is serviced by the same bartender. This guy literally walked back and forth right in front of us and avoided eye contact. I asked if he was working alone as we needed service e and he responded "yes I am and walked away" Not even a "high welcome to... I will be right with you" or maybe even "I am working alone but I'll be with you as soon as I can" I asked him directly why he was choosing to ignore us and refusing to even offer us a simple greeting or a glass of water while we wait and his response was "I thought you said you needed time."I reminded him I had previously asked for service, and his response was I have a lot of things to do. We let him know this is was very disrespectful and got up and walked out.

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Plus, the military “hero” discount was a very generous reduction on the bill. Great place! What more could be offered??

Long wait >1 hour, came here at 10:40am, got seated at noon. But the service was quick and welcoming once we came in, we got seated in a cute booth. The whole place is nicely decorated.
The menu is huge, I recommend checking it out before you come in or while you wait. Portions are normal sized, food is good. We got avocado toast and the autumn special turkey sandwich with fries.
Parking: Parking on the street, paid. Limited availability.

I come here quite regularly, and this weekend, at 3 in the afternoon, came in and was told I’d have to wait. Which I’m fine with (and have waited much longer before for The Friendly Toast), but they weren’t particularly busy, yet had somehow ended up short-staffed (on Harvard’s busiest weekend). Was dismissed by the front-of-house rather rudely, and the manager to whom I spoke wasn’t particularly helpful either (saying they were sorry I *felt* disappointed). Yet, I don’t run the restaurant, or the staffing. Magically, the manager on the phone then said they *did* have a table, and that I could come back, despite the seconds-earlier notion that it’d be quite considerably longer.
Given that I was on my own, perhaps I wasn’t worth clearing a table for with any expedience. Who knows really? They’re certainly nicer on the evenings where they’re hurting for business and are largely emptier. Funny that.
I went elsewhere.
A great place where you can brunch all day long with very original dishes like bacon-infused waffles with fried chicken and rice crispies... a treat. We'll come back when we're back in Boston

The food is good, service was TERRIBLE!! I don’t ask much but at least OFFER to refill my coffee and water. Only saw my waitress when she took my order and when she gave me the bill. And this was a Monday mid-morning when the restaurant is 1/2 dead. Come on people!

Had read the amazing reviews about “ The friendly toast” but was initially hesitant due to the long line to get in. After having brunch here, I can attest that this restaurant is 100% worth the wait!
Food/drinks:Started off the meal with the delicious pumpkin cold brew ( great addition to the meal) and chose to split the strawberry french toast and the bacon and egg quiche with a friend. The French toast were to die for! The quiche was also amazing, and the bread bowl it came in was baked to perfection!
Service: we were seated at the bar and our server was attentive and efficient!
Ambiance: the diner has a quaint and rather colorful look. I enjoyed looking at all the odd decorations on the wall while I was eating, and the rainbow of colors in the restaurant was what made me choose it initially!!
Overall, great experience and would definitely come again.

Eclectic unique eating experience in Harvard Square… Highly recommend and came highly recommended!! Can eat indoor or outdoor. Son who had the chicken waffles said they were the best he had ever had! Loved the salmon avocado toast- had on Sourdough instead of bagel. Only recommendation is that they have half portions especially with their Beni’s!!
