It's Good Friday and we went to get some fish for lunch. We thought we would try Hourly Oyster House in Harvard Square. We had been there once before and it was ok, but they had a fish sandwich on their menu so I was for it. It was pretty empty when we arrived. We ordered Downeast Cider and they said they were out of it. Then two minutes later they said they had it. So we ordered two of them with a fish sandwich and a shrimp banh mi. Then they came back two minutes later and said they were out of the fish sandwich but I could get fish and chips. This is where I began to get frustrated. What I don't understand is how they can have fish and chips, but not a fish sandwich. They would have to be out of bread, but they weren't. They had lots of sandwiches on the menu. I don't usually count pennies when I'm out to eat, but the fish and chips was $6 more and not what I wanted, and couldn't they have just taken some of the fish from the fish and chips and put it on a hamburger bun!?! So the waitress went away while I tried to decide what I was going to do instead of the fish sandwich. She came back two minutes later and told us they actually were out of the cider we ordered. At that point I got up and left and will never go back.

Nautical themed seafood restaurant near Harvard University. Really cool vibes. A bit pricey but everything tasted amazing! We spent about $70 with tip for two people. Try the lobster roll and fries.Dietary restrictions: Our server immediately asked if there were any food allergies or restrictions when we ordered. Very prompt, professional, and considerate.

Struggling with this review as so much of the food was great, but I got severe food poisoning from the oysters served the evening of 3/18 as confirmed by the doctor in the ER the morning of 3/19. The service was phenomenal (sat at the bar). Sometimes these things just happen?

My third time back at The Hourly Oyster House and have never been disappointed. The food, friendly and attentive service along with the cozy atmosphere make for an enjoyable dining experience. Ordered the encrusted halibut - delicious! Nice selection of fresh raw oysters to choose from as well.

If someone in your party doesn't like seafood don't go there. While they had a few non seafood entree on their menu, they were out of those entrees.. Worst yet they didn't seem to care. They didn't tell us they were out until after our order was already placed for the other food. Truly a disappointment.

Professional service with good knowledge of their menu. Attentive service and at the same time unobtrusive. The seafood dishes are perfectly prepared and the selection of oysters is second to none! Highly recommend the Hourly.

Nice spot, great vibe. We sat at the bar on Friday evening and were greeted by 2 very nice bartenders. The calm chowder and calamari were fine. We decided to share the seared cob. It was just ok. Not a lot of taste. It was too thick for my liking. The fixings were a bit too funky. I don't think the value is that frigate money.

We had made a very specific reservation for a high top or (preferably) spots at the bar. When we arrived, the gracious hostess noted this and showed us the table they had set aside and pointed out space at the bar (where we belong, really). Our bartenders were a delight, the neigbors to the right and left equally so. Delicious, well prepared cocktails, with specific questions to be sure they got it to our liking. I had the tuna tartare appetizer for my meal and it was delicious -- one of the best. When the bucatini de mer arrived for my love, conversation halted for a bit. It too was delicious. All in all a lovely, pre Sanders Theater dinner and a special evening.

I do not eat seafood, but took my girlfriend here for dinner for her birthday. She had 6 oysters and said they were delicious. She also had the scallops which she liked quite a bit. I ordered the chicken, with potatoes and creamed spinach. I think the sauce that was used on both the creamed spinach and potatoes was the best I have ever had. The chicken was very solid as well, crispy on the outside and still tender on the inside. The martinis were also very good. 5 stars.
