I can't say enough great things about Longfellow Bar & Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere had the perfect mix of energy and comfort — truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in Harvard Square. But what impressed me most was the service, especially from our server (I believe her name was Abby). Not only was she attentive and welcoming throughout the evening, but when I accidentally left my wallet on the table and headed off...
Hostess was cold and seemed annoyed that we were dining at her establishment. Do not think this is the career for her. Food is very good - but there is not a huge variety of choices. Kale salad was delicious, but was way too much for 2 people. Brussels sprouts were great as was chicken sandwich and cocktail. Our server was lovely and attentive.
This place has old school bar cost vibes and great handmade food. It does have a lot of creative bar food and seriously creative drinks. It's a little hard to find in the sense that it's upstairs while its restaurant (Alden and Harlow) is in the basement level. Look for the neon sign then go up the stairs. I also would recommend reservations because it fills up fast.
