Based on other reviews the food turned out to be quite disappointing. The sauces were uniformly too sweet, and overall the dishes (chicken tikka masala, Goan fish curry, paneer curry were bland and uninteresting.

Food was excellent. Service was even better. Nice views from the second floor location. Goat curry and butter chapati were awesome. My wife enjoyed her chicken biryani. Will definitely go back.

Maharaja is one of my very favorite restaurants. It has been for decades. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service excellent. Highly recommend to any one who enjoys Indian food. This was my first time in a very long time that I went for lunch. Usually, it's dinner. They had an extensive buffet, which I'd like to try some day.

The dishes could be spicier. But I understand it's Cambridge. Lol. I love Maharaja and I always come back to it when I am in Cambridge.

We went out for dinner with friends for a meeting, and I think we were subjected to disrespectful verbal abuse by the owner or manager of the place. I think this arrogance comes from the fact that he earns a lot of money. We are very dissatisfied. Those who are considering going there should think again; it's not suitable for a family environment. Nobody wants their children to be exposed to offensive language. I definitely do not recommend it.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience. The food I ordered was bland, arrived cold, and raised serious concerns about freshness. For the price, the quality was far below expectations.

What bothered me the most was the manager’s attitude. When I tried to give feedback about the issue, I heard the manager using inappropriate and disrespectful language about customers. This kind of behavior is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Due to both the food quality and the poor customer service, I do not recommend this place. I will not be returning and would not suggest it to others.

The food was truly unhygienic, the dishes smelled terrible, and I had to leave without being able to eat. I also heard a lot of cursing and insults inside, which was a truly disgusting situation.

The food arrived very late and was very cold. There was also an insect in the food. I would never recommend it.

The Restaurant is a great spot for flavorful Indian food. The dishes are rich, aromatic, and clearly made with care. The curries are well-spiced, the naan is fresh and soft, and the portions are generous. The menu offers a nice variety, with plenty of options for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is prompt, making the overall experience very enjoyable. If you’re looking for delicious Indian cuisine in the Boston Square area, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit with a nice view.

This place is impressive! In a city full of bad culinary (and other) options, this is one of the precious few good choices one can make. Genuine Indian fine dining done well.

We ordered a few items that historically have been a bad experience for me in other places and Maharaja delivers flawlessly. The galauti, seekh and a saag curry … all three hit the bullseye on quality, taste and portion size. There was a distinction in the flavors and consistency of the galauti and seekh … not just rolled in different shapes but actually made to be different. The chicken in the saag was tender and the gravy was perfectly seasoned.

I also loved the paneer Bhatura … I was not sure what to expect but then it arrived, it was exactly what I imagined. Again, flawless. No excess oil, just the right amount of paneer, coated on the inside of a fluffy poori which was holding its shape … well done!

Decor was very authentic … this is what I’d expect at a five star hotel restaurant in India. Nice street view, finished ceiling, wooden art panel, white table cloth (no paper) and quality silverware were all nice touches.

This place deserves the full five stars in all 3 categories. Compared to what passes for food in Boston, this place deserves more.

Excellent food and ambiance. A nice place to go on Christmas if you don't celebrate the traditional holiday!
