I ordered takeout here to try it for the the first time and unfortunately, while walking with the food to a park, broth started spilling onto me through the bag. I opened it to find the deli container was fully cracked on top and I had lost over half the broth. I poured from the bag what I could into the bowl, but everything was greasy and it really dampened the experience. The food itself was phenomenal which is why I'm still giving 4 stars, but I'm really disappointed in losing so much broth due to either cheap or roughly handled deli containers. I have my own deli containers I've been reusing from takeout for months now and have never had one crack like this.

This was my favorite place but I feel like they have more fat than meat now in their hot niku udon. I understand that the meat can be fatty but this is like 80% fat. I’ll give them a few more shot so hopefully it’ll be back to normal.

Get the hot spicy beef udon, it’s really great. Just don’t come at lunch time or you can expect to wait about 20 minutes or so. The service is friendly and the line is efficient though.

Came here from all the Instagram posts. As predicted there was quite a long wait, granted it was a Saturday night. The thing that stood out to me the most was the customer service—it was very good! The cashier/server was very attentive and service was swift. The udon noodles were very good but I think I had set my expectations a bit too high from the social media hype, which is why I am giving this place 4 stars. Broth is super flavorful but I think the general spice-level could be higher. I also thought the portion size wasn’t super filling despite the presentation. But the noodles themselves had that really fresh/homemade bounciness and mouthfeel which I thoroughly enjoyed.Overall I am glad I tried this spot and happy to see that business is good!

As a Japan native, this is the only place I have been able to enjoy udon in the US. They make their own udon noodles, and oh my the bounciness, the texture, the flavor is perfect. And the server is always really kind and attentive. This place is overall a really well run, delicious place, totally worth the wait (~30min wait on a Sunday lunch time)!!

Dream Udon has always been a famous Japanese udon restaurant in Boston. It is located on the corner of the first floor of Lesley University, about 20 minutes walk from Harvard. During meal time, besides his house, there is a huge queue at the izakaya Ittoku next door.Although I live far away, I miss Spicy Cold Niku Udon here every now and then, no matter whether it is winter or summer. The Japanese chef here probably borrowed some seasonings from Chinese pasta, and the taste is very in line with Chinese tastes.? Spicy Cold Niku Udon is also one of the most signature noodles here. After the noodles are cooked, pour them into ice water and place them inside. The soup base has a light juice + Japanese sweet soy sauce flavor, sweet and salty but not greasy. The traditional strong Japanese dashi flavor is not used, probably to cater to the tastes of more customers. The beef is delicious, sweet and refreshing, not too old or too tender. Topped with shrimp skin, crackers, chives and chili oil. The chili oil is almost not spicy, and has more of a fresh fragrance like Chaoshan chili oil. Optionally add soft-boiled eggs. Just mix it like this, it's really fragrant. The hot udon is a bit mediocre in comparison, and it becomes more greasy after being heated.Overall, this is one of the few restaurants that I will miss in Boston. It is the comfort food that I go to when I am tired of going to school. It is also a small restaurant that I will eat at for my friends who come to Boston. Although the attitude of some staff is not so good, the taste is indeed the best. In this era of soaring prices, it is considered cost-effective.

Ordered the spicy hot udon, and honestly, it was quite mediocre. If I do come again, I'd probably order the cold spicy. But the broth for hot was rather tasteless, and the spice level wasn't that high (Japanese food to be fair). I may be a bit biased as I was just in Japan and Singapore last year however ?.

The food is amazing. The wait to get a table can be extremely long, but you can order take out without having to wait. The place is tiny and a bit crowded so I think it’s great for getting a light meal but not ideal for conversations over meal.
