Great place for lunch as they have a variety of options - both salads and sandwiches. Really any type of sandwich and nice/ quick service. Can either call ahead to pick up or pass by. Enjoyed the beef Korean inspired sandwhich- nice flavoring and large portion size. Overall recommend

What a gem in Charlestown. Ryan was absolutely exceptional as not only a server but also a sommelier, his attentiveness to our table while supporting others was above the bar. The entire team of Dovetail seems to click with collaborative energy. The local squash blossom torta was insanely good as was the tuna crudo. Cannot wait to go back for more of the menu!

This is a very stylish but casual place in a beautiful setting in the gentrified Navy Yard area of Charlestown. I expected it to be much more uptight and formal as many popular places are these days. My expectations were confounded though as it could not be more welcoming. I actually went twice in my week staying in Charlestown, once just by chance, with 3 friends and no reservation for dinner. I never thought we'd get in but the host showed us to a table right away. Today I had made a reservation and came with two friends, meeting up after a long time. On both visits, the server (two different people) was friendly, efficient, helpful and made the whole ordering process fun. Then there's the food. Oh my! The 'petit corn soup' may be the best soup I've ever had. There is so much delicious lobster in that tiny bowl, and the flavor and texture were the stuff of dreams. My friend had a featured Umbrian sparkling white wine that was so good she took a photo of the name. I had a vodka and mint cocktail that was creative, refreshing and not overpowering, just the way I like it. The beet salad was crunchy and very fresh, the pasta dishes we tried were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Today we shared a pork sandwich and a roast turkey sandwich, and started with the Muhammara, a middle eastern starter with a slight kick. All absolutely noteworthy and there was nothing to take home. The prices are reasonable and they're fine with shared plates. My only quibble is that they don't offer desserts or coffee. I don't mind at all no desserts, but after a delicious meal with friends, and especially as the weather gets colder, I like sitting for a little while longer over a hot cup of good coffee. That would certainly not prevent me from coming back anytime I'm near here. Maybe next time I'd bring a thermos.

I love this restaurant but have to say the food this time was not what it has been in the past. My pasta dish was clumping as if it sat around for awhile. The absence of the lobster pasta dish was also a disappointment. Service was top notch, even at the bar.

Great outdoor space, mediocre food. The nail in the coffin was the service, which was poor. Waited almost 25 min. just to talk to a server, who was largely inattentive throughout most of the meal until the check was delivered. So much potential, but we were disappointed and will not return given other nearby (and outstanding) options.

This is a great establishment and I have always been a fan during dinner services whether we sit indoors or outside on the patio. This time we went for lunch at noon and it was fine. The waitstaff were cordial and great service was provided, but the place was empty during our lunch time, so we did not get to fully enjoy the atmosphere. Obviously, that is not the establishment's fault, so no penalty points deducted there.

We are regulars. Tonight the bluefish special, roasted oysters, the squash torta, the focaccia and the two pastas we had were outstanding. We were disappointed the market lights were not on.

Came for brunch on a Sunday with a large group. Everyone had some adjustments to what was on the menu and every meal was perfect, just as we all wanted. Great quality food and fresh everything. Will definitely come back for dinner sometime and this will likely become a regular brunch spot for me now! Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich and the huevos rancheros

Came for brunch on a Sunday with a large group. Everyone had some adjustments to what was on the menu and every meal was perfect, just as we all wanted. Great quality food and fresh everything. Will definitely come back for dinner sometime and this will likely become a regular brunch spot for me now! Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich and the huevos rancheros

Dovetail is one of our absolute favorite spots! We always take family and friends here and everyone always has a fantastic experience. The food is always delicious (the specials are consistently amazing), the service is top notch. We generally sit outside with our two kids and it's the perfect place to enjoy a drink, enjoy the atmosphere and delightful neighborhood, and have a memorable meal. I highly recommend!

Overall our first experience was great. Outdoor patio was lovely and Food was excellent, especially the snapper and cavatelli. Our only complaint was that we felt rushed. We made a 6:30 reservation and received a text that our table was ready at 6p. We were parking at that time, so it wasn't a big deal. But then we ordered drinks, a salad, 2 pasta dishes and 2 entrees and they all came out at the same time. We were in and out of there in less than an hour. Would've liked to enjoy the outdoor patio for a bit longer and maybe have a couple more drinks. We did enjoy it and will be back.
Dovetail is a cute little neighborhood bistro with creative food. The wine selection was lovely and the server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The ambience was soft and modern. 10/10
