pretty expensive but hear me out… i had the most incredible pasta dish here i think i have ever had and that shocked me. seriously, for a seafood hotspot i was SHOCKED at how good the pasta was! like, it was INSANELY GOOD. garlic, spinach, tomato, butter, and chili flakes. my goodness. i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since!

A very special “must do” when on MV. I go at least once every year. Catch the islands best sunset prior to dinner.

I've been going here for 60+ years. Very disappointed now. Pricing of meals is # 1. Too bad, but i guess they're doing what they have to do.
Service and the facility are great. I most likely will never go back. I want to always remember this place as the way it was when I had my first lobster there.

Since reopening, The Back Door at the Homeport has been one of the island’s casual dining treasures. There’s nothing like a tasty lunch on the patio on a sunny afternoon. Better yet, the fried chicken sandwich was squarely one of the best on the island: a juicy chicken thigh perfectly battered and fried then served with jalapeño slaw. Unfortunately, they have stopped serving the thigh in favor of something akin to a large chicken nugget. This is a huge downgrade and so so disappointing. This was our go-to lunch spot because of the chicken sandwich but sadly we will be back far less frequently now.

Inside is extraordinarily noisy but outside on the deck is great. Might want to bring sunglasses as the sun can be brutal at sunset. Not to mention a light jacket in case it’s windy. Food is fantastic, service is the best!

Went for lunch on 8/4 Monday. Takeout only for lunch and sit on deck. BYoB. Long lines to order and longer to pick up food. Small portions. Fried clam plate had 4 clams, calamari a small box, and ironcally both overcooked. Full prices would command 50pct larger portions elsewhere on MV or Cape. Larsen's and Mnemsha Galley across street look like much better bets!

The service may not be ideal due to being a little bit understaffed, but the waitress is professional. The food is definitely above average and the location is unbeatable. Feel free to enjoy the little fishing harbor and its tranquility after dinner.

This place was a family treasure when we were kids. Our parents would bring us all there and we’d feast on lobsters. It was great. However, we went there tonight and it was very disappointing. They remodeled it which allowed for some nice outdoor seating but they ruined the menu. I tried to order a lobster but they said we only order a lobster now if we also order a bunch of clams, oysters, corn, potatoes, etc. I just want a lobster; not all of that other stuff that I’ll be too full to eat anyway. So, it was really disappointing.
There was also some confusion among the waitstaff over who was handling our table which led to us sitting there for 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. That’s a sign of poor floor management by the people running the place.
It’s a great location and a long time institution but, unfortunately, it seems that the emphasis was put on creating a new space and not on serving the people who made the place an institution in the first place. We won’t be back.

They replaced the tables and chairs destroyed the ambiance. They did away with the price fix menu all a la carte. It’s like a glorified cafeteria. The food is literally thrown at you over $200.00 for three people and no change of silverware, finished food left on the table, small portions AND I found out they served ICE when they were here. So done

Many things were well done. We were not prepared for the dry town BYOB but we would be better prepared on a next visit.

Don’t miss the take out window during the day. The fried fluke sandwiches are our favorite in menemsha.

This place was packed when we walked up, the view was gorgeous at sunset, people waiting and lines and a packed parking lot so without coming online and looking at reviews, we just gave it a shot. Well, a mistake was had. We are from out of town and didn’t realize it was a dry town. So you have to bring your own alcohol, not to mention every drink you got charged for, every refill. We paid over $50 for just drinks, that was iced tea. Our waiter was nice, but once we placed our food order, he only came back once, not very attentive.
We asked for a coke, and it look 30 mins to get a drink, we finally got it as we were getting the check. Not to mention, the prices are outrageous for what you get. The food was cold coming out, the swordfish was tough, the scallops were $60 for only 4 of them. The steak fiters were a small 3oz steak and like 4 French fries. The lobster platter was bland; we spent over $450 and it was such a disappointment. There were fish markets down the road that probably had better food. Locals seem to love it, but as an out of town visitor, I do not recommend and would suggest going elsewhere.
