We called at 8:15 pm to see if they were busy no one answered so we arrived at 8:35. They were not supposed to close until 10 pm. We were told they would seat us but after waiting 10 mins they came back and told us they were overwhelmed and were not able to seat us. Even though the place only had a few tables of customers. We left and called Chilmark Tavern at 8:45 and they were supposed to close at 9:30 and they took us in and we had an exceptional meal. We used to love the Homeport under the old management and had gone for years but now would never go back. My husband is an islander. So disappointing.

Very good food and service! The reviews were scaring me a little bit but I am so glad we went! $79 for 3 courses is not expensive by vineyard

Excellent New England Style lobster dinner and clam bake. Enjoy the outdoor dining and amazing lobster with steamers as an appetizer. It’s the best fresh sea food.

Prix fixe menu (I think $78/person), plus raw bar & a couple optional extras. No alcohol sales in Chilmark so BYO.The food was great on my recent visit: fried oysters presented on the half shell, burrata, linguini (fresh) with clams (also fresh), cod and clam chowder, fennel crusted tuna. It's a fancified version of the old school seafood restaurant that it once was.

Food and service was generally pretty good but overpriced and there were multiple surprise charges on the bill. It was ridiculous.

Cute waterfront restaurant that's an island staple. Appetizers were so so, main and dessert were delicious.

I remember going here when I lived on island many years ago. A lovely reboot. We were there early, food was very good. Excellent chowder, the mussels were fantastic. My wife’s linguine with clams was delicious and my swordfish was great as well. Couple of pies for dessert. Loved my key lime! And the oysters we got were perfectly shucked. I think it’s pretty good value for money on island. I wish they would disclose there is an almost $16 dollar charge for the wine setup when they offer it. I get it, but it seems shady to offer something and not say it’s going to cost you. Also disclose the mandatory kitchen appreciation fee on the menu and website. I don’t mind paying it but I do mind not knowing beforehand. And they obviously have spent some money on the patio.. those umbrellas are something!Overall very happy with our experience.

To be totally honest, the food is probably 3.5 stars. The views from the outdoor patio are great, the ambiance is nice, and the menu itself looks like it should be 5 stars. However, at a $79 fixed price menu, it was really quite shaky. Watermelon salad was 2 sort of sad looking rectangles of watermelon. The steak frites was fine, but the steak was incorrectly cooked and also about 1/3 tough fat. One would expect better for the price. But, great views of the water...

Absolutely not worth the prefixed meal prices. You’re getting mediocre wedding food at best. Your food at your own wedding probably was probably better. Kids portion of the fettuccine was like a side dish, not at all worth the price. I asked if we could get a little extra for , but they couldn’t be bothered to scoop a little extra from the premade fettuccine I’m sure they already had made. Nothing is made to order. My swordfish was dry and bland, so don’t bother. View from the outside porch was stunning though. I’d save your money and not go here.

Great sunset atmosphere on the deck and good service. Food is middling and overpriced. Be prepared for annoying hidden charges. For example, we ordered a platter of 12 oysters and 12 shrimp for the table. No one brought side plates, which we promptly asked for. So on the bill was an extra $20 for "shrimp service". Not a huge amount relative to the already bloated bill, but a pretty sleazy move nonetheless. I'd rate the place higher if it weren't for this type of unethical nonsense.

This is not the Homeport of years gone by, It's a tourist trap for those that don't know better, and we went against our better judgement. We waited close to an hour and a half for our main course to be served after our edible but entirely forgettable appetizers of fried calamari and fried oysters (only 3). Probably the least good calamari I've ever had, lukewarm, soggy, with peppers too hot to eat. Main courses were pedestrian. My wife's salmon must have been sitting around in the kitchen for 15 minutes after being cooked. Deserts were boring and did nothing to enhance the meal. And considering this is a BYOB restaurant, $325 for 3 with tip was high even for an island with high prices in most all restaurants. The fact that this is fixed price at $79 each gives no flexibility to save a little by splitting a dessert or appetizer if one isn't that hungry...although portion sizes would make splitting questionable anyway. One might expect a little something extra at that price....bread on the table, a little chocolate wafer after dessert, but nada.....not a hint of anything that they're happy to have you as a customer. Do yourself a favor and go to Chilmark Tavern, State Road, Red Cat Kitchen, or somewhere they care about you and food.

My advice is to stay home and cook lobster yourself and save a lot of time - and you'll have a better meal. Lured by our memories of the previous Home Port, we gave this restaurant a second try since our abysmal experience last year. We waited an hour and a half after we were seated to get our meals. The lobster was lukewarm and the corn was barely warm. Had to ask for lobster cracker and a seafood fork. One party had the linguine and clams and said there was not enough linguine. When have you ever heard that? The waitstaff works mightily, but it is clear that the kitchen is not up to serving the numbers of diners seated. They should take fewer reservations so that they can provide an enjoyable dining experience and better food.
