The food at 80 Thoreau is outstanding. Delicious and very well presented. Their wine be the glass has excellent choices and reasonably priced. The restaurant is broken into multiple rooms, which keeps things quite, though takes away from some of the energy. The small bar is beautifully decorated and would be a treat just for a cocktail. The one negative of our experience was the service. It was far from attentive and not particularly knowledgeable. Might have been bad luck and...
Very inventive menu excellently prepared and presented always homemade pasta choices, fish choices, meat and fowl ... usually 2 of each excellent cocktails as well all desserts homemade and interesting
The menu was interesting but execution was underwhelming. Pappardelle was overcooked, although mushroom sauce was tasty. We asked for add-on truffles.... it wasn't sliced shavings but fine grated string - either the truffle was old or it was grated hours before serving, since it was absolutely tasteless. Choux au Craquelin supposed to be crunchy, hence the name, but it was rather soggy. And the grand finale - a simple espresso wasn't available.
