Truly a phenomenally spiced burger, and it was high quality meat (no tiny hard bits of cartilage or whatnot, which I find quite common in burgers, even at the Cheesecake Factory and other nice restaurants).I have never had a grilled pineapple alon my food before but this was so tasty too!I also appreciated the couches and arm chairs and my waiter was super kind and polite.The artwork and music were fun too.

I have never written reviews, but I feel I need to write one, hoping this restaurant will change course. I have been in the business for over 19 years and was excited to try a locally-owned black restaurant. I was surprised that the pictures on the website did not accurately depict the ambiance or the food. First, the prices were high compared to “like” restaurants. Okay, I expected more! Since the bartender was not versed in standard drinks, I settled on a Kettle One and cranberry. I asked jokingly; I wanted it pink—more liquor. The bartender brought my drink, and the glass was half full! He stated that I wanted more Vodka, so he had to accommodate.Then we got our appetizers, and the garlic fries dripped with grease. My friend, an inspector from the city, informed him that the fryolator was not heated properly. I ordered a jerk burger, and I expected a hand-pact burger with seasonings because of the price. Since the kitchen is in front of the bar, I saw the cook season a prepared burger by tossing seasonings on top and placing it on the grill. Really? My food came, the fries dripped with grease, and the burger had no flavor.I expressed my dismay with the bartender, and he agreed. I couldn’t eat my meal and let him know we were leaving to go get something to eat at another bar. The bartender said, “Where are you going? Can I come? I don’t eat here either.” I told him I would not be returning and that the food and drinks were overpriced. He also agreed. $85 later for a burger, fries, and two drinks is not worth it. I would have expected some credit, but I understand his limited ability to make things right. I tipped him and left. I am not cheap, but this dinner and experience was not worth it. We went to another bar in the area and were satisfied. Since telling this story, I spoke to others and I am not alone. Do better, I would like to support your establishment.

Went here on a Sat night for drinks and apps. I had heard a lot about this place and my experience matched the hype! Service was excellent and the scallops, wings and plantain tacos were delicious! I'm not one for sweet mixed drinks so I was pleased to choose from their variety of spirits. Surprisingly there was a DJ who played old skool hip hop r&b and reggae/Caribbean music. Definitely a hidden gem on a Sat night. Parking wasn't bad either. I'll definitely be back to get a whole meal!

Overpriced to begin with($18 drinks in Dedham?) but how terrible the experience was was unbelievable. First meal that came out was wrong. They noticed and fixed it but the right order came out overcooked. Also ordered the ribs and they came out cold. They'd clearly been cooked before and were just trying to recycle old food. Blown away that they tried to pass off old food as "just cooked". Just paid and left. Def would not recommend. We saw food sit on the counter for awhile before getting delivered. There were lots of staff and it wasn't busy. Looked like we weren't the only ones getting cold food.

The place is nice, environment is laid back and service could be a bit faster especially when expecting a big party of people. I took my son last night to celebrate his birthday. Our host was very pleasant. My problem with last night was that my brother ordered a special drink (zombie drink) didn’t particularly cared for the taste, wanted the bwa kalé instead. Our server told my brother to drink up the zombie drink and will make another bwa kale like he wanted. We ordered 3 bwa kale to my surprise they charged us for the drink that wasn’t great. No complementary.Then for mine main course, my husband and brother, ordered the fried fish without the speciality black rice and wanted just the fried plantains. They served the fried fish with plantains and 8 string beans. Another surprise, we were charged 49.95 per fried fish, six plantains and 8 string beans. We could have been charged less considering our bill was not cheap at all. I wanted to try the place which I did but feel like we may have been overcharged for our food. My hope is the place will be mindful about offering alternative options if you’re charging for full price of a meal when the customer doesn’t want all that comes with it. I took stars off because no one at the restaurant thought about complementary for our meals or drinks.
