Unfortunately I was not impressed at all with our dinner at the Ocean House. The service was very good and the ocean views are lovely, but the food left a lot to be desired. Paying these prices (over 20 dollars for small plates and over 50 for large ones) I expect for my socks to be knocked off, but my socks stayed firmly on my feet. Nothing was bad, but there wasn't one dish that deserved the price point. I would pay maybe 10 dollars per small plate and 20 per large based on the execution and flavors. My husband and I opted to try multiple small plates and one large for dinner. The tuna tartar was fine was tuna tartars go, but nothing spectacular. The portion size was decent. We tried the naan bread service. The naan was not really naan, more similar to pita bread. It was nice and salty, but the sauces that accompanied it were weak. I did like the raita, but the tomato based sauce tasted like standard jar marinara (which was funny as the waitress warned us it would be "spicy"). The "sizzling" scallops were tiny, gummy, and weren't even "sizzling" despite coming to the table in one of those little gimmicky cast iron pans. The lobster ravioli were just fine. We also had a mixed seafood dish with legless calamari (always suspicious that you're not actually being served calamari), which was just a fancy version of fried fish and tartar sauce you can get anywhere on the Cape. I only ate a few bites and it didn't feel worth it to stuff myself on something I wasn't enjoying. I had much better meals and much less impressive spots on our trip. The kitchen needs to get its act together and rework the menu into something spectacular if they really want to compete with some of the other moderately priced and luxury priced restaurants on the Cape.
Overpriced and underwhelmed. Menu limited and overpriced sides. ....Stir fry veggies soaked in soy sauce. Filet sliced and dried out. Too bad used to like coming here . Won't return!
Disappointed! We have dining here since the restaurant opened every year. The menu has changed dramatically. We loved the filet but now very different prep and taste . No pasta on the menu instead ramen? Appetizers and menu have a heavy Asian influence in spices and sauces instead . Not a hint of any Italian food on the menu .. used to be a little bit for all ... sorry to say we will not return unless the menu changes . Sad that our yearly tradition will end! Did you change chefs?
Our favorite restaurant on the Cape. Charming host and staff are very proper - attention to detail for a non-elegant dining experience. Truly a gem!
One of the best restaurants we've ever been . The food was so yummy. The wait staff was very friendly and the view of the ocean was incredible. After we ate we were allowed to go outside where there was a live band and a bar. We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought a piece of cake with chocolate that said Hapoy Anniversary on top and a candle. We will definitely go back when we come to the cape again
Outstanding experience! The food is absolutely delicious, the service impeccable. Many thanks to Morgan and staff... they go above and beyond!
We went here to celebrate our anniversary and had a perfect time! The staff is so attentive, the food is EXCELLENT and the view is unbeatable. You’ll pay a little more than other restaurants on Cape Cod but is is absolutely worth it.
Food, setting and service were very good. Felt the prices on the sides and small bites to be excessive. The restaurant was busy so the noise level was unpleasant. I could not converse with the person 2 seats away and had to lean in to hear the one next to me.
Wonderful window table where we got to look out at the ocean. It was a double anniversaries celebration. The champagne and food were excellent . Our server was fantastic. A very special memory .
A delightful venue for a special evening. The location on the Sound is beautiful. The food and service outstanding. The noise level provides energy but not so loud that you cannot have a comfortable conversation.
Restaurantji Recommends
Wonderful evening. Impeccable service, outstanding food and lovely welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter, A van was excellent and very attentive. Our only recommendation would be to bring back the bread service formerly offered. Ocean House is the best restaurant on the Cape. It has it all.
One of the best meals we have ever had on Cape Cod - the short rib was melt in your mouth fantastic. The sea bass was remarkable... and our server - Christian could not have been more helpful !! Can't wait to return
We visit the Cape a few times a year, we always dine at the Ocean House, and we are never disappointed. The visit on 10/2/24 was no exception. The food, service (Ivan), ambience are the best of any restaurant we have ever visited. Very simply, Ocean House is Number 1 on our list of restaurants that includes many of the top restaurants in the country.
Great food and service as usual. View spectacular. Much more expensive than out last visit. Very crowded for a Sunday evening in September and a bit loud. But that is the measure of success.
The Hostess and wait staff were so attentive and made sure we had a special dining experience for our 50th Wedding Anniversary! This is our favorite restaurant whenever we visit the Cape. Thank you
