We have several good breakfast and lunch options here in Falmouth. For the 20+ years that we've owned our cottage and for the four years that we've lived here full time, I frequented two that I like very much. But somehow I never managed to learn about Moonakis Cafe until two years ago. Since then I've made up for lost time by going every chance I get. The menu variety is extensive and the quality of the food is excellent. And if that isn't enough, the waitstaff is fabulous - gracious, friendly, quick and they know the menu and what to recommend. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner a few months back, and it's clear that all the good things about Moonakis - and there are many - start with him. Today I misread the closing time on the website - thought it was 3:00 and it's actually 1:30. My friend and I arrived at 1:25, got our order in under the wire (each had a different flavor of quiche - fantastic!), and sat gabbing until 2:30. They cleaned around us and we didn't feel rushed at all. Stop looking for a breakfast / lunch place. Go to Moonakis Cafe. You'll love it!

Overall, it felt like the kind of spot that caters more to an older, local crowd who appreciate a familiar, no-frills menu. If you’re looking for something more flavorful or unique, this probably won’t be the place for you. Keep heading north few nice places that way

From the moment I walked in, I knew this breakfast experience would be special. The warm, welcoming atmosphere set the tone perfectly for the morning, and the service was attentive without ever feeling rushed.
I ordered the chicken apple sausage breakfast, and it exceeded all expectations. The sausage was outstanding—juicy and flavorful with the perfect balance of savory herbs and a subtle apple sweetness. Each bite had that wonderful snap from the casing, followed by tender, perfectly seasoned chicken inside. It paired beautifully with the fresh eggs cooked exactly to my liking and the crisp golden potatoes on the side.
What impressed me most was the quality of ingredients and the care in presentation. The sausage tasted wholesome and light, yet incredibly satisfying, leaving me energized rather than weighed down. The plate was as beautiful as it was delicious, showing the chef’s attention to detail.
To top it off, the staff made the experience feel personal and thoughtful, checking in just the right amount and making sure coffee cups were always full.
This was not just breakfast—it felt like a treat. The chicken apple sausage is a standout dish that I’d come back for again and again. A true five-star breakfast that sets the standard for how mornings should begin.

This place is worth the wait. It seems to be the “it” place for locals and visitors alike. On a Saturday morning at 830, there was a 30 minute wait when we arrived. The hostess took my name and number then I received a text when the table was ready.
The menu is good with tons of specials which seem to be both daily and seasonal. We ordered the special #3 which we split between 2 children, a corned beef hash with eggs and toast. The hash was rather salty and the eggs slightly on the dry side but the hot sauce fixed all that. Then a Portuguese French toast. There was so much food that nobody could finish it.
On the ambiance side of things. There are local photos on the walls and what seems to be sound reduction panels on the ceilings but it was still rather loud due to all the conversations in this full restaurant.
I can’t wait to come back

The food was excellent but the service was awful. Our waitress took our order and then never came back, not once. I tried flagging her down several times until I finally just went up to the counter for refills myself. Someone else had to get my daughter’s order because she forgot it. It seems one waitress takes all of the tables while many young girls are standing around looking for something to do. When I was finally able to get her attention for our check, she hovered over my husband to see what he was tipping her. Very uncomfortable, unfortunately because the food was truly very good. We saw several other tables being ignored and people going to the counter for their checks because she never came back, so I know it wasn’t just us. Maybe train some of these other girls to wait tables so one person isn’t waiting on the entire busy restaurant.

Moonskis is a great café for a really good breakfast food. I really enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes Cajun sausage and scrambled eggs. They have many specials and is great small town breakfast spot. Highly recommend.
