Freight House Café Family • $

“My buddies and I came across Freight House Antiques on a very spontaneous and sudden whim. I had been hungry and wanted something local and as we passed by the signs for coffee and whatnot, we decided to turn around and take a chance. I'm more than glad that we did, because this is honestly a spot I would drive out of the way for to visit again for both their in-house made chocolate chip cookies, and freshly made lobster rolls.Aside from the cool and one-of-a-kind antiques that you'll find here, their kitchen is what makes me want to go back immediately. It's like an old school diner type of experience, and everything gets made right before you by those standing behind the counter. I was afforded the opportunity to try out their cookies by another traveler (thank you so much, L!!!) and I was over the moon! From the outside, they're thick and look as though they could have a more baked bread-y inside, but let me be the first to tell you that they are rich and moist! I love these cookies and that's it!!!The lobster roll was a Labor Day weekend special, and my goodness! This is how you make a lobster roll, y'all. Big, juicy, full of flavor! So simple at the same time because they use about only five ingredients to make it, depending on how you want it done (butter vs. mayonnaise). The side potato salad was also awesome and I'd order more of it on its own.I did not get to try their homemade pies, but I will definitely go back to try them next time after I've ordered about a dozen of their cookies. The brownies are just as good and pretty much everything is able to stand on its own here. With all of that being said, due to this having been a completely random stop, I had not seen the previous Yelp reviews beforehand. All I can say is that I was not there to see all of what transpired go down, and so obviously my own unique experience is very biased and personal to me. The staff running the place were pretty welcoming and kind to us, and it's definitely a different era of an establishment versus the year 2023 in some regards. This both has its pros and cons, clearly.Plus, the business is still "unclaimed", therefore, Yelp is the one ultimately removing certain reviews for violating their Terms of Service.Free parking in their private lot is available outside, and there's many treasures to find here. I would have bought up a lot had I visited on my own with all of the awesome wares I came across. Thank you~!“
