5 stars all the way with this one. Rated as "The Best Seafood in America." The restaurant has received many awards and I can see why. The fried clams, are second to none. Sweet and tasty. The onion rings are also excellent. Supposedly, the first clam was fried here in the town of Essex. Woodman's has been cited as "an American Cult Classic-right up there with baseball and apple pie." It has a full bar, it is family friendly & has excellent water views....
My favorite spot for fried whole clams! This visit my husband and I split a Chubby's Fried Dinner Plate which includes onion rings (amazing) and fries. Added a small order of clam balls, which contains two. Somehow it's been six years since we were in the area, won't make that mistake again.
My boyfriend and I decided to stop here because we saw a long line and lobsters in front of the restaurant. Looking at Google reviews there were about 2K, and majority seems to be positive (overall a >4 star rating). But we found out that there were a lot of disappointment with this restaurant. We ordered the Fried whole belly oyster boat and a small cup of clam chowder which ends up amounting to $60. There was a long wait time (about 30 minutes) to get the food (around 5PM...
