we just had the most disappointing experience at The Bitter End, an establishment we have loved for years. My whole family stopped in the other day, with my 9 month old grand daughter. Because we are from out of state, and don't know the local Blue Laws, we asked if the baby was allowed, and were greeted with a whole hearted "yes, of course, we love babies here!" by the loveliest young bartender, who had waited on us the year before. The service was excellent, she's such a lovely woman that we had remembered her, a year later. We had two rounds of drinks, and loved our experience. However, when we stopped in tonight, half of our party ordered drinks at the bar, while my daughter stayed in the car to nurse the baby. The service was sufficient, but not attentive. However, when my daughter came in the door, with the baby, he literally swept down upon us, and approached what was on his mind in the worst possible way. His words, literally, were " Okay, I know you guys came in here the other day with this baby, but we had a meeting today, and I can absolutely not have a baby in here at anytime". His approach was very offensive, there was no acknowledgement of the fact that we'd asked what the policy was, he was just very defensive, presenting the "I'm just doing my job" defense. He made everyone very uncomfortable, and definitely made us all say, "Okay, we won't be coming here again"..... with, or without a baby. His words and approach were very unprofessional. I, as a life long restaurant professional, don't blame him. He's young, and obviously poorly trained. He was probably nervous about approaching the issue. He was trying to be polite-ish, but was definitely not skilled in that way. I have to wonder why a bartender with such limited public relations skills was left alone with no management. If you can't teach your staff anything else, you should at least teach them not to refer to any child as "this baby", in front of her grandmother.

Met my husband here over a decade ago. Fun place to grab a drink and play a round of pool. Sometimes has a local band but is always playing Jaws in the background.

Good prices for drunks, good ambiance. A classic dive. And you can bring your dog in! Grab some pizza from Mike’s and have a drink at the Bitter

Love it. Jaws playing on repeat, catch the game while holding a conversation. Guiness is still a perfect 4 min pour. Now accepting cards. Photo-worth decor. Date night fave - drama free. Now had additional seating

Visiting from California and stopped in with a friend from Wareham. Nice neighborhood bar. Very friendly bartender, clean, and good beer. Can't ask for much more than that.
This was my first time coming to Bitter End as I've always heard great things. The bartender was great and drinks were good. I came with a group of friends. We ordered a couple of drinks and before we were leaving I decided to use the rest room with my cousin. As we were walking in a "patron" who also stated that she also worked at the bar stopped us from coming in and told us we werent allowed to go into the bathroom together. She was incredibly rude and refused to let us in. She wasnt on the clock. I don't even know if she actually worked there but her internalized homophobia left a bitter taste in my mouth. As my group and I decided to leave she cheered and waved. If this is the type of people that this bar employees I refuse to spend my money here. I will be sharing this info with my family and friends in the greater Fairhaven area. I will no longer be returning

Great little bar with a mellow vibe and sociable patrons. Bartenders are friendly and attentive; especially Pam on Friday nights.
