We recently had a disappointing experience at Dario's in Fitchburg and I will definitely not be returning. From the start, the service was subpar. Our server forgot our request to split the check and even neglected to bring out some of the dishes we ordered. When the water was served, it smelled heavily chlorinated—like pool water, which was off-putting.

The cleanliness was also questionable. The silverware we were given was dirty, making us wonder if their dishwasher was even working. We raised these concerns with the owner, and while she did remove two dishes from the bill that were cold and tasted terrible, it did little to salvage the experience.

Overall, between the poor service, bad food, and cleanliness issues, Dario's failed on every level. Never coming back.

There was a noticeable urine odor as soon as we were seated, was hoping it would subside. It did but not completely. Had the chicken marsala which had a distinct fishy taste, obviously not part of the dish. It felt more like a cross-contamination issue. Not worth the price. A disappointment.

This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and welcoming. The food was very tasty and the bartender was very attentive. Highly recommend this jewel in a quiet downtown area.

Parking: Free two hour lot on the same street, we were able to park on the side street early Saturday dinner

Went for dinner last night. First, the good: Fast, pleasant and entirely competent service! Aslo - a beautiful and airy-feeling uncrowded dining room. The restaurant was just as clean as could be. I loved the great cloth napkins lightly starched and so smooth to the touch with the spotless and lovely table linens. Our waitress was attentive and charming. We had the veal piccata with risotto and quartered artichoke hearts and capers. It was actually perfect, so generous a serving and very tender meat with the lightest of coatings in the perfect picatta sauce, delicious. Small complaint that is probably only my own personal quirk but I did not love the extra slices of parm on top of the risotto - it felt like a gilded lily. Extra cheese suggests the cook is not confident in the flavor and the quality, in my entirely subjective opinion. The Chef should know his/her/their veal piccata is a stand out.

The bad: The veal marsala and pasta and mushrooms was flat and the veal was both heavily breaded and unpleasantly chewy. It was surprising that both these veal dishes came from the same kitchen. I wondered if one was prepared by "the real chef" and the other by his third cousin on his mother's side brought in at the last minute to see if s/he could cook? We were not that hungry so we took the veal marsala home for the dog. Wine and service was very good but the bread was shockingly awful - a kind of an odd and cheap/dry/day-old tasteless sliced "bun" affair. The tap water smells funny and the music was entirely too loud. We were one of 2 couples in the dining room and although I commented several times about the volume, there was no offer to lower the sound which seemed odd to me. I have a hard time imagining going back there on purpose but maybe I'll forget about what bugged me and just remember the pretty room and that really nice veal piccata with risotto?

We did takeout. Ordered a chicken broccoli rigatoni Alfredo for $22. Dish was ok but the carbonara was $37 and not actually carbonara… there’s no carbonara sauce at all. See picture. Note that we ate from it so portion was a bit larger. Still very disappointed in food and cost.

Had to come here to leave an additional review after my Yelp review. Sit at the bar if you can, Dante is exceptional and truly the type of bartender that keeps you coming back or following him through future restaurants. 10/10 recommend. Great food, the saxophone player was incredible.

We were staying at a hotel nearby and wanted quick takeout. Italian is pretty easy to get right and I love bolognese so I ordered takeout and my husband went to get it. He ordered the roasted ravioli. The minute the bag came in the hotel room I knew I’d made a mistake. Pasta was overcooked and the sauce was not much like a traditional bolognese and super gross. Ate 2 noodles and threw the rest away. My husband didn’t care for his either and only ate the breading/toasted part of the ravioli as he was hungry and said that was palatable. A disappointment. We will not be ordering from here again.
