Lafayette House is a restaurant located in an 18th-century building, known for its vintage theme and beautiful interior. The menu is relatively small, but the portions are generous and the food is plentiful and delicious. The restaurant is a bit pricey, with drinks and food being on the expensive side.
The beef tips, Teriyaki Salmon, Baked Scrod, roasted potatoes, Lafayette burger, bacon cheese burger, Buffalo Chicken Tenders, prime rib, and braised boneless short ribs are some of the popular dishes. The Brussel sprouts and butternut squash are also said to be quite delicious. For dessert, the cheesecake, bread pudding, and Toffee Mousse cake are highly recommended.
On Thursday nights, the restaurant serves sit-down meals inside in a large function room with a decent-sized bar and stage. The decor is plain and dated, but the portions are large, and many people take doggy bags. The service is very good, helpful, and friendly.
The restaurant also hosts outdoor concerts in an area called the Pines on Sunday afternoons, featuring cover bands and a cool bar serving killer drinks and cheap food like hotdogs. Wednesday nights feature a car show, catering to a friendly biker crowd.
Despite some past complaints about rushed service and additional charges for card payments, Lafayette House remains a popular dining spot with great food and a fun atmosphere. Parking is not an issue. Overall, it’s a decent restaurant with good value for the money.
