Excellent service and food was absolutely delicious! We were there for about 3 hours celebrating a milestone and never felt rushed. The flat iron steak was incredible and cannot wait to be back! :) I wish I had taken our server's name but she was fabulous and accommodating to my cousin with a gluten sensitivity. Amazing!

Amazing location, view and venue in general. Stopped by for drinks and an app before dinner tonight. Some selections could have been better and they were busy but for a friday night there should have been more staff. There were 2 jams on the cheese board that will forever live rent free in my mind though. Will be back soon!

Had a fabulous Thanksgiving today at 1606! 🦃 Loved my turkey dinner with marvelous gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, stuffing and gravy! Also, loved the pumpkin pecan pie! 🥧 service was amazing! So busy and it felt so serene at the table! Would wholeheartedly recommend!

We have dined several times at 1606 and have previously enjoyed all we ordered. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately. The bread service was very good. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. However all changed when we were served . My husband and I shared the ceviche. It was 90% onions and very little fish. I ordered the salmon with noodles. Salmon tasted fishy and the noodles with vegetables were overcooked. Both men ordered the steak and it was good but once again the sides were overcooked. Not sure if there is new chef or just an off night but we were disappointed overall

Our server was lovely, the crab cake delicious. But the gnocchi came burned, I couldn't eat half of it. Kind of pricey for food that can't be eaten.

My partner and I went here to celebrate our engagement and we just loved the service, the food, and the atmosphere at such an affordable price point. We ordered two mocktails, crab dip appetizer, fried haddock, and a chocolate trifle cake for dessert, and it all came out to approx $100. They also offered us complementary ginger ale (as opposed to champagne since we don’t drink alcohol)! Their thoughtfulness will make us repeat customers whenever we visit Gloucester. In addition, we loved the ocean view and proximity to the shore (we stood for a few minutes when we exited the restaurant to savor the crashing waves). I would come back here in a heartbeat and bring guests as well. Fully recommend it.

We love coming to dinner here because the service and food is always excellent. We loved our server Kiki. They just changed up the menu so it was nice to try something new. I have been disappointed the past few times we've been at the bar. The bartenders have not been friendly and haven't been accurate with making drinks. We saw one man sit down and there was a giant puddle on the bar and he got soaked and none of the bartenders seemed to care or apologize. There used to be a great bar program there but it has gone downhill. Glad the restaurant side has not!

I have been here before and enjoyed it very much. We both got the tacos... I wish I took a picture of them. There were two 4” soft tacos very little haddock and was supposed to be blacken and a few jalapeños on the side and nothing else for $19... it was something you would basically get from a food truck. We asked the waiter if there was any french fries we could get... Word to the wise any of their handheld section does not come with anything sides. We saw some brunch food coming out that looked really good so next time we're going to stay away from the sandwich side of the menu. Our server...a very nice Irish man was delightful!

Amazing ambiance ... we had the scallop special which was way over salted and the veggies were undercooked and we had the chicken katsu which the chicken was spongy and very tough. We sent it back and the manager said they had had that happen the day prior - they cooked a new piece of chicken which took forever so the other food that was already served was then cold. When the new chicken was brought out it was overcooked and literally brought out on a new plate by itself with none of the dressing or sides.... The bill was $100 for the 2 dishes and the experience was sub par at best. No adjustment was made for the very underwhelming experience. This is a high end expensive venue and the fact that so little care was taken to remedy the situation is extremely disappointing. We will not be returning. Save your money.

Location & Atmosphere: absolutely perfect. 🌤️ We ate outside, and the weather couldn’t have been better — a little chilly with the sun shining just right. The restaurant’s deck overlooks the beach and offers the most refreshing ocean breeze.

The staff was pleasant and welcoming, though I didn’t interact too much, so I can’t recommend anyone specific to sit with. The food, however, was pure chef’s kiss. 👨‍🍳✨ If you order anything here (even though it’s a bit on the pricey side), please make it the lobster roll. It was our first one ever, and wow — buttery, fresh, and prepared to perfection. The roll itself was soft, and the lobster melted in your mouth.

Parking was free, which was a nice surprise, and after lunch, the beach walk made for the perfect way to end the meal — whether you’re on a romantic date or, like me, spending the afternoon with family.

The only small miss: my dirty martini wasn’t quite as “dirty” as I prefer. The waitress actually mentioned it as she dropped it off and kindly offered to add more olive juice. The bleu cheese olives were delicious, so I didn’t fuss (and yes, I happily drank it). Next time, I’d love if the bar fixed it up before it came out — but that’s a tiny note in an otherwise perfect experience.

Bottom line: this place is a must-try! 🌊🍸🦞

Fried clam appetizer was $40 and wasn't very good by New England standards. Lobster bisque was good but not hot enough. Had to have it reheated. $20 drinks. It could have been a lot better. The ambiance and ocean views were fantastic.

Food and drinks amazing. Waiter and kitchen very accommodating for our friend who has food allergies.

Our local friend recommended this place and we stayed there besides. Great raw bar with ME and Mass oysters and other fresh shellfish. Both the ahi and the scallops were great with a nice display of fresh veggies. Incredible wine selection. Great service from Vanessa.

We had a wonderful dinner at 1606! They gave us a lovely table with a view. Lisa, our server was fantastic! There was a slight issue with my entree and while they were preparing it again, she brought out a very nice salad while I was waiting. That was a very nice gesture! The food and service were impeccable and in such a lovely setting. We hope to return!
