We had just finished our tour at the Hammond Castle around lunch - went on open table to see if we could book lunch with a water view - well The 1606 was listed with great pictures of the harbor — well were met by friendly valet attendants, , host and then seated at a spectacular table - actually not a bad table in the house. Food, service , and atmosphere was wonderful. A great beginning to summer. .
Food and ambience is perfect. 4th visit for Anniversary dinner. Sadly the service was the only thing not up to normal standards.
Noise level was very loud as tables are close together. Had difficulty hearing my dining partner. Service was rushed, food quality good.
We have never had anything but a superb meal here. Kudos to the chef(s) for creating delicious and consistently high quality and imaginative dishes! It was a lovely, unrushed Father's Day.
It was a wonderful Father's Day brunch at 1606! We had a great meal and a stunning view from the patio. Thank you to the team for helping us celebrate my Dad.
We celebrated our 20th anniversary at this restaurant. It's a bit of a hike for us - we live in Newburyport - so we do not go there often. We always get the lobster roll, which is unbelievable. Definitely pick a night when you can sit outside. We had a 5:15 reservation on a Thursday and had no trouble getting a table with a gorgeous view.
We sat at the oyster bar ( where you CAN reserve seats) with a view of the bay. Had a 3 course dinner - lobster bisque, crab, fish and chips, scallops, plus drinks and dessert. Everything was perfect and the bar staff is amazing. Highly recommend. Note - may be pricey for some - but worth it.
Lovely spot on the water in Gloucester. Extensive menu, accommodating and friendly restaurant serving excellent food.
Perfect setting and perfect service! It's the ultimate upscale waterfront dining experience. And the bonus of being in Gloucester - a real working seaport town - makes it even more special. The food was very good and when I come back we'll try the raw bar, which looks outstanding as well.
1606 Brunch is very good. We ordered off the menu though will try the buffet next time - s3olid options for $24 per person. Harbor views from the dining room can't be beat!

We continue to go each year to celebrate a friend's birthday. Never dissappoints, always excellent service and food. This last celebration was exceptional and enjoyed by all.
Beautiful restaurant. Delicious food. Incredible service in a gorgeous location. Thank you.
Always love coming here as it's overlooking the ocean and just a wonderful vibe. We went on a Sunday for brunch - We ordered the oysters to start ( from Maine and RI) bother were very food. We prefer the smaller to medium sizes. We then ordered a few apps to share- Mussels, Lobster Bisque, Clam Chowder, Clams, and the chicken and waffles. The soups were very good! Lobster Bisque was my favorite. This was the second time getting the mussels, the first time was excellent and this time it was just OK- we had a few bad ones in the mix which just threw us off. The clams were amazing- market price was $34 - a tad small for the price but not fishy or chewy so it was worth it. Chicken and waffles were also a hit at the table. Overall the food was good but not perfect! The service here is always great - no complaints. We had to move our table due to the wind outside and the manager was very kind as I know its such a hassle when people ask to move.
Every experience has been amazing!!! One of our most favorite places to go and the most perfect spot for any special occasion!!! The staff, the food, the ambiance....it cannot be beat!!!
The atmosphere at 1606 and the Beauport itself is really pleasant. You feel the Gloucester vibe which is just so cool! Cape Ann has a very special feel.
