Decided to try out another seafood place in town and boy was it a reminder of why we love the causeway so much! The food is always so fresh and full of flavor!

Living in Mass I have high standards for my fried seafood and ever since finding this hole in the wall gem of a spot I literally won’t eat my fried seafood anywhere else because no one in all of New England can compare! Immaculate food beyond delicious reasonable and just perfect. Start with the fish chowder because if you don’t you’re a fool. Best scallops wrapped in bacon anywhere. And as I said it’s all about the fried. The Pete’s platter is my always go to. Huge scallops. Juicy shrimps. Clams with belly’s so big and fresh and perfectly crispy. Calamari for days. The whitest most flavorful haddock. I dream of this fish!

Their haddock sandwich and french fries are delicious. The price isn't bad either. Can't wait to go back

The food is A+. The portions are huge. I can never finish it and therefore have to take half of it home. Unfortunately, the waitress who waited on us the last time was not very pleasant. Her voice was very harsh. She gave us the menus upside-down. She just dropped the forks and knives on the table. If she doesn't like her job, she should not be doing it.

Worst meal we had while visiting Maine. 😪 My baked coconut rum haddock was topped with an inedible mushy mix of bread crumbs (perhaps to hide the not so tasty haddock underneath). The baked potato was overcooked and shriveled. The asparagus was yellowish and didn't have much taste either. My husband had seafood melody (shrimp, scallops, haddock) with the same awful topping. 😖 We should have just sent everything back. We were referred here by a local. Sorely disappointed.

My party of 5 came here after a long day walking around Salem. The traffic was a nightmare to get to Quincy so we decided to go north and wait it out. The menu for the Causeway in our AirBnB had “where the locals go” and “huge portions” handwritten on it. I got Spaghetti and Meatballs, my mother in law ordered the Haddock au Gratin, and my wife had fried clams. The food was amazing and the portions were huge. It was a relaxing no frills place. They were busy but our food came out in a reasonable time and the server was attentive. Highly recommend!

We used to come to this restaurant all the time because the food—especially the seafood—was always great. But during our last three visits, the quality has dropped a lot. The food no longer tastes fresh or good, and the flavor has really gone downhill. Honestly, we lost the desire to come back unless the quality improves like it used to be.

Sooo Good! We had the haddock sandwich and the fish & chips. The portions are huge (easily shareable). Fish was very lightly battered and so flakey! No alcohol on the menu. Service was excellent, the are quick and attentive. Solid place for dinner.

We ate our dinner at The Causeway Restaurant at the night of Tuesday, September 30th.

After visited Halibut Point State Park and amazed to see the narrow neighborhood to drive through Gloucester, we were very hungry and excited to drink beers. But unfortunately, they don’t have a license to serve any alcohol. I understand and I’m fine with that. We got a good and friendly server. I didn’t catch her name. Dark long haired woman server.

We got in and there’s a plenty of people inside to eat their food. The noise was loud but we can talk in a loud voice together. It was about to go getting busy around the dinner time.

The food was worth it! I got my Chicken Gorgonzola. It’s freaking fantastic and delicious! Even the gentleman sit across from us who was curious and asked about my food. It’s a real Italian food! Great place to eat!

ANOTHER visit for a friend's 99TH BIRTHDAY - well-treated - memorable experience. THANKS for CONTINUING to SURPASS all others.

An excellent seafood restaurant for working people with GREAT food, huge portions, and FAIR PRICES - - NOT one of your usual yuppy-overpriced tourist places. THIS IS WHERE THE BOAT PEOPLE GO.

Went there again this week - - 5 years later - - STILL THE SAME - - - huge portions - - and - - if you look at the mural on the back wall - - you will see MOBY DUCK - - which operated in Gloucester/Salem from 1997-2001. I used to drive that - - 'been there, done that'

ENJOY!

Was initially told a 15 minute wait...that turned into 45...no problem, they were busy. However when we were seated our waitress immediately assumed I asked for a diet drink, although I said no such thing. I'm assuming I was stereotyped or she thought that's what I needed. The spaghetti was fine, but the Alfredo sauce was thin and runny. The chicken in the pasta was fully cooked but clearly expired. It had a horrible old taste. Alfredo sauce seemed very similar to Dominos if that tells you anything. The waitress also rolled her eyes when we asked to split the bill, but then we just threw the cash down and left. Do not recommend!!

This small seafood restaurant is beyond excellent if you are looking for local fresh of the boat fish and seafood at a reasonable price. The portions are large as well. This is a small eatery ( no reservations). They also do a bustling to-go business. The atmosphere is small and on the rustic side, but clean. If your looking for romance this isn't the place. If your looking for great, no fantastic, food at great prices this is it! ( Also byob as they do not serve alcohol)
