Went there today and ordered a chowder and two meals. I paid $95 and I’ll tell you I was very disappointed. Chowder was good but when it comes to the meal, the baked haddock was the worst bake haddock I’ve ever had in my life. You could clearly see when the waiter came back to the table. I never even ate my meal he Never asked how my meal was. I did question him about the haddock and straightforward loose said this is how it’s done here. I debated on taking it home only because I spent $95 on a meals. When I question the waiter, he left the table got the Check dropped it off, packed up the meal, very sloppily and handed it back to me and the check. If this is how a restaurant run, I will not be returning. He could’ve rectified it, but decided not to. I think he was only concerned about his Tip. Well I hope you enjoyed your 9% tip because you’re lucky you even got that. It should’ve been rectified. Shame on you and your server staff. It’s not about the money it’s about Quality and service. And just so you know This is not my first time there I have been to causeways several times, but this was probably my last. Greed should not be on your menu

Wifey and I have read people online rave about quite a lot as the, or one of the best places on Cape Ann. They offer seafood and Italian. We tried an eggplant parm special and their seafood combo (fish, shrimp & clams) - the Peter's Platter added scallops and calamari. We were told each dish would feed both of us, but wanted to try a seafood and an Italian dish, so we opted for the smaller platter. We found the platter very good. The eggplant batter was thicker than we prefer, but the sauce while simple was very good. We would go back. The atmosphere was a bit rough as the weather was great, there was a wait, and the small dining room was packed including one very, very loud group of about 20 that took up a third of the dining area. Fun for them, damn loud for me. Towards the end of our meal they left, and the sound was just fine. All in all, it was a good experience with a great server.
Parking: The parking lot absolutely stank. It was off-putting. I wondered if a dump or transfer station was very nearby.
We had finished rehearsal for my daughter's wedding and come to find out the restaurant she scheduled reserved for us for the wrong day. We called The Causeway, and 30 minutes before close, they agreed to make it in a party of 30 people, and we are so glad they did!
We are from Ohio, and I do not like sea food. I guess I'd never had real seafood, though, because this was all delicious! I had fried clams- they were tender and hot, and the breading was perfect. The fish chowder was excellent, and the clam chowder was to die for!
Two days later, I returned by myself, mainly to thank the owner and to praise the staff to him. But I also tried a lobster roll and it was delicious!.
The service was outstanding. No cup was ever empty, and the staff was so friendly to us.
If you are in the area, it is a must stop!

Drove from Worcester area just to eat here as we like to stop here at least once a year just for the food. This time we had a lobster roll and it wasn't disappointing. Service was good. The place is just like an old diner but that is why people love this place. We arrived just before noon and when we left there wasn't a seat left !!! And it was a Monday out of season. They serve all seafood fresh or fried your choice. Not cheap for the rolls but was ???. If you have never been you have to try it, you'll like it ??

Their Baked Stuffed and Steamed lobsters are great and their lobster roll is foo.Get the Prime Rib when they have it - delicious! Fish chowder hands down - the BEST! Love the fried sole too!

Tonight I was there earlier to get a take out order and when it was being rung up, the amount seemed high. There was mix-up and both the server and owner handled it with grace. I was in a super hurry and was trying to figure out what happened and they just gave me the bag and said thank you - I was and remain impressed especially given I just realized what might have happened and if so that was on me when I ordered. Next time when I return, I will be sure to pay the difference and thank them for their service. All too often people are quick to blame and in this case I'm pretty sure they took the high road - THANK YOU!

The food was okay. The portions were big. I ordered scallops wrapped in bacon. Not a good choice. They had no flavor. Not even the bacon. We drove awhile for seafood that wasn't as good as closer to home.
