Top to bottom, easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food absolutely shines and along with the on point, seamless service, the perfect pace that chef provides, it’s truly an epic experience. The utilization of the local seafood was masterful, and the way all of the fish was cut and scored made the textures perfect. I honestly found it as quite the honor to be served by Chef Sang because he clearly is a master of his craft. Can’t wait to go back. 10/10 highly highly recommend!

Outstanding and intimate (8 seats) omakase experience! Incredibly high quality fish with subtle yet unique seasonings to bring out the best flavors. The appetizer courses were also inventive and were a great opener to the meal. I highly recommend coming here for a splurge omakase meal!

Not your typical Omakase experience if you're used to high end joints in New York, Vegas, San Francisco.
This. Is. A . Good. Thing.
The space is small, but not cramped and not fussy. There are eight seats at the bar and that's it. Once all the diners arrived, the lights were turned very low on the diners side of the bar. That was a nice sensory touch and added a little drama. It was serene. We were seated in the center and could easily converse with everyone else at the bar plus the chef, who by the way, is a really sweet guy who also takes what he's doing very seriously.
I can't remember all of the courses, but they were all very, very good. No flash. No need for gold flakes or dry ice magic. Excellent fish. Perfect rice. I'll say that again. Perfect. Rice.
The pacing was just right. We opted for the extra course, which was a toro hand roll and it was marvelous, but I struggled to finish it because I was too full.
Some of our favorites were the monk fish liver, lobster, snapper, blue fin tuna and the Naruto roll, which featured local mackerel and I think chives, cucumber, sesame seeds and, oh lord, I wish I could remember, but no rice. We've never had anything like that before. Color me surprised and delighted.
Service was friendly and operated like a well choreographed dance between the chef, assistants behind the bar and our hostess. We brought our own bottle of Sake and it was placed on ice for us and our water was never close to empty. By the way, plan ahead of you plan to BYOB as the owners of the wine store up front have retired.
We live very far away in Texas, but will do our best to make it back soon.

Sushi Sang Lee is my favorite Edomae-style sushi restaurant in the Boston area. Located about an hour away in Gloucester, it is absolutely worth the trip - and I promise you will love the experience. Boston has seen its fair share of Edomae-style sushi spots lately, but what sets Sang Lee apart is the absence of unnecessary, showy ingredients (caviar, foie gras, wagyu, truffles, etc.) and the unwavering dedication to the fish, the ingredients, and the craft. The rice is always served at the perfect temperature, making each bite simply heavenly.
The opening appetizer bites are fantastic, including the best ankimo course I’ve had to date. The following nigiri progression is pure perfection, and the omakase concludes with a delicate tamago pre-dessert, followed by a thoughtfully crafted dessert.
I’ve made the hour-long trek several times, often bringing friends along - and without exception, everyone agrees: Sushi Sang Lee is exceptional.

I rarely write reviews, but I must share our exceptional experience at Sushi Sang Lee. It was easily one of the best meals (and experiences) my wife and I have ever had. Sang is a master chef, personable, kind, engaging, and maybe most importantly, humble. If you’re seeking an Omakase experience off the beaten path near Boston, this is the place. The entire staff was outstanding, and Sang’s sous and waitress were exceptional - and they all clearly respected and appreciated each other. Each dish was meticulously crafted, blending imported and locally sourced ingredients from Gloucester for a unique flavor profile. My wife and I have vacationed in Gloucester for 10+ years together (my wife has been coming every summer since she was 4) and it has a special place in our hearts. Sang’s reverence of the town, his neighbors and fellow restaurateurs and chefs was refreshing, as he spoke highly of everyone in the place he now calls home. He also offered recommendations for places we don’t normally go ourselves that we will certainly take him up on.

Really OG Japanese style omkase with a great Gloucester local ingredients twist. Love it
Sensational food, excellent service, great entertainment all around. This is a real gem of the Gloucester food scene.
Everything about dining here was incredible. Each dish was delicious and meticulously crafted and the service was the most attentive and friendly that I've ever experienced.
Highly recommend and can't wait to return!
Every bite was incredible. 11/10 this sushi chef is just magic!

Spectacular food, service and environment. The chef elevates locally sourced seafood along with high quality, rare imports to provide an uplifting and thoughtful menu. A one of a kind experience that I am sure rivals the best sushi in Japan, let alone Boston or Manhattan.
Best Omakase in North Shore. Saftely top 3 in New England as of 2024. The menu design reminds me of Sugita and Masa. Chef Lee put in a lot of thoughts sourcing local fish whilst serving authentic Japanese Omakase experience.
It would be nice if they offered sake pairing though

Thank God Sushi Sang Lee is an hour from my house—otherwise, I'd go broke. Everything was perfect: pleasant atmosphere, quiet, and clean. Local Saba, Hotate, and Ankimo vs. top-quality raw fish—the real winner is the customer.
