Good dinner at Yella. Food didn’t scream Mediterranean like we hoped it would. Flat breads and salads were delish, but some of the mains were lacking. The lamb pasta was essentially pasta in a brown gravy, not even super smooth or luxurious gravy. Pretty mediocre.

Nestled right by the ocean in beautiful Gloucester, MA, Yella on the Water is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving exceptional Mediterranean and seafood dishes. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere that feels both welcoming and authentically New England. It's the kind of small, inviting place where you immediately feel at ease. And let's talk about the food! While everything we tried was fantastic, I simply have to highlight the clam chowder. Without exaggeration, this was the best clam chowder I have ever had – incredibly creamy, packed with tender clams, and perfectly seasoned. It's a true masterpiece. Their seafood dishes are equally fresh and expertly prepared, showcasing the best of what the ocean has to offer, and their Mediterranean options are vibrant and flavorful. Beyond the incredible food, the staff deserves a special mention. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a wonderful dining experience.

We visited trying to find a place that was cozy and had good food and we were 100% satisfied. The service is amazing! It was a bit chilly out but there were no indoor seats but they were able to set up a heater and gave us covers to ensure that we were warm. I definitely recommend setting a reservation first before going but there was still a lot of seating outside. Their food was impeccable! They served it really fast and barely had to wait for our food to arrive. I recommend the clam chowder, so creamy and delicious 🤤 Loved this place and hope someone else loves it as much as I did!

loved this place. Outside seating has a pretty ocean view and they have heaters and blankets if it's cold out. The staff are very nice and attentive. The food was super good as well as their drinks. Definitely recommend the mussels and the flat bread.

Matt and his team hosted a rehearsal dinner for us and honestly it was spectacular. Matt worked with me prior to the event to make sure all our dietary needs were looked after. They did appetizers ( a table as well as passed) then a buffet dinner for 28 people. Chicken kabobs, salads, ravioli with short rib and no one will stop talking about the the platters of shrimp and chicken wings. What’s in that aoli?? The drinks were expertly made and flowed freely and expeditiously. We lucked out on November weather and were able to utilize the front deck which was beautifully laid out as well as the inside of the restaurant. We ended our evening with a beautiful vanilla panacotta dessert that was served to our tables and I’m pretty sure no one’s bowl went back anything but empty. We can’t thank you and your staff for going above and beyond to make our night so elegant and special.This place is a hidden gem for sure and special shoutout to Kimberly and our awesome bartenders as well!

Love this place. cozy inside, the entire staff was so nice, our waiter was excellent, wish I knew his name young man, superb service. We got the chicken kebab entrée and the short rib ravioli, the tiger shrimp appetizer was outrageously good! Def recommend.
It's a perfect little lunch spot. I had the flatbread pizza with pesto and chicken, and my husband had the fish tacos. We enjoyed our lunch on the patio overlooking the ocean.

My organization recently hosted a team dinner at Yella on the Water, and I want to share how great of an experience we had. We worked with Matt to plan our menu and flow of the evening. We hosted a short and informal arrival/cocktail gathering on the patio. The view overlooks the water and was perfect on a transitional summer-to-fall night. We ordered a few appetizers which were setup as a station and the servers took drink orders. It was a lovely ambiance. We then had entrees and dessert inside. Our team pre-selected meals ahead of arriving, though the team was able to make adjustments on-site, and this made for a smooth and quick transition. The food was delicious. Notably, they accommodated several dietary restrictions including a gluten allergy, vegetarians, and dairy free guests. All of the allergens are clearly noted on the menu, so it made planning and selecting easy, too. Throughout the entire night, Matt and the service team were fantastic. They were so kind and nice to engage with. Our team raved about the location, food, service, and ambiance. I highly recommend Yella on the Water for a group dinner or just as a restaurant to visit!
