Drove an hour to get there, arrived at 9pm on Friday and the door was locked and the sign said closed even though the sign below it said closes at 10 on Friday and Google says 10 on Friday.

Stopped in after a meal at a local restaurant for a scoop. I tried the ginger ice cream and my son got the maple walnut. We both agreed that the ice cream is excellent. There was only one poor girl working the counter and line kept getting longer (too many people ordering milkshakes!). Our wait was around 8 minutes to be served so it wasn't too crazy. The ginger ice cream was truly delicious.

I'm not a big fan of SoCo. I think their ice cream just pales in comparison to Arethusa Farm's which you can get at the grocery stores in town if not at one of their shops. SoCo seems to have a monopoly in Great Barrington (no other ice cream shops around) and their ice cream, I feel, is overrated. I generally think ice cream that has egg yolk is better, and SoCo's does not. Tastes sort of one dimensional. I wish there was another option in Great Barrington.

The people, ice cream, and just to camaraderie around here is awesome!! They have tons of memos I wish I had the courage to, and my greatest desire is. It's really awesome to see what other people are thinking and what they have written.

A really good ice cream shop with plenty of different flavors as well as some of the customary ones everyone likes. The line was long but it moved quickly.

Had the "desire" ice cream with marzipan and dates. While it is an unexpected combination, it was absolutely delightful. I suggest that one for sure. Prices were good for fancy ice cream and staff was pleasant.

Before we left for our Berkshires vaca, a friend who used to live up there insisted we had to try SoCo Creamery, and she was absolutely right. Stunning flavors! We sampled the strawberry rhubarb and Spanish olive oil and rosemary. Wish there was a SoCo on Long Island!!!

Our neighbors (thanks, Marvin!)told us about this amazing place, and we've been here twice in the last few weeks. The workers are extremely patient, attentive and helpful. We never waited more than a few minutes. The ice cream is extraordinary, particularly the Dirty Chocolate, Cookie Dough and Banana Brownie. Samples are available. Wonderful Railroad Street is a fun and easy stroll.

High prics for generic flavors. Really nothing special. The staff are nice enough and they do look clean but that's really all. I wasn't too impressed but at least they are trying

I think I ate the best mint-chocholate chip ice cream ever. I don't give 5 stars lightly especially to ice cream parlors but this place deserve every single one of it. I'd give 6 stars if I could. Good job!

Great ingredients are used to create the best ice cream in the state. Been going here for years with my family and I’m satisfied every time. Always love the cookies and cream whenever they have it. Just wish they would bring back the chocolate cookies and cream. Their flavors change around from time to time. Seasonal flavors too. Staff is always very friendly, and they have some nice merchandise as well. You’re able to buy pints of ice cream to bring back home, which we often take advantage of. HIGHLY recommend this place

This was a hidden find. The ice cream was excellent. They had a wide variety and pairings I never would have thought of. Thought the pricing was reasonable. It's a great excuse to go back and explore the city.

Adding pictures and revising my original review.SoCo is perhaps the Berkshires' most well-known ice cream brand. Their home is here in Great Barrington where there were over 30 flavors available to try when I stopped by. Although things were just a tad pricey when I stopped by, with a single scoop priced at $5.18 and a double costing $6.12, the ingredients are well-sourced, whether milk from a Vermont farm, fruit from local sources whenever possible, and add-ins like cookie dough and brownies made in-house.When I stopped by, I zeroed in on some unique seasonal flavors, especially the apricot ginger and the Desire (marzipan, date, and orange zest). Nicely fruity in both cases, with a unique yet satisfying twist in the form of ginger in the former, and a comforting, almost cake-like consistency in the form of marzipan in the latter. Both were satisfying on a warm early summer day. There are also dozens more regular flavors available. There are a couple of benches outside which were in high demand when I stopped by, plus a handful of tables inside which could have been inviting had they been clean (folks, don't be slobs - wipe up after yourselves). All in all, a quality local business well worth visiting and supporting.Pro tip: Yelp amateurs, you don't need to shove your ice cream cone into the photo with your bare, moist, wrinkly hands and dirty fingernails. You also don't need to call attention away from the ice cream with tacky backgrounds. Crop out your unsanitary body parts, hold your ice cream against a neutral wall, and keep the focus on the ice cream itself. #stayclassy #stayuseful #noyouarenotanarteeste
