Loved it here !!! We were staying nearby on a Monday and nothing was open. Decided to drive into Great Barrington and were glad we did! Cozy, beautifully curated space that really gave a sophisticated après ski vibe. Great service and ambiance. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

We have dined at Prairie Whale several times. Each visit has left us very satisfied. The food is outstanding, the wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient, and the decor is simple and comfortable. Our last visit was on a Tuesday night and the bar and restaurant were buzzing. I recommend Prairie whale without hesitation.

what a place, what a team! i have had a life changing vegetarian plate every time i go there. there’s always an interesting natural wine, an ice cold martini. there’s pizza outside in the summer and cozy candlelight in the winter. thank you mark and team for being here - we love you!

We wandered into this cozy little restaurant expecting a simple meal, but it turned into one of those evenings that feels like a warm chapter in a favorite book. Mark, the owner, greeted us with the kind of smile that makes you swear you’ve known him for years. By the end of dinner, he had slipped effortlessly into the role of the delightful uncle you didn’t know you needed - full of humor, heart, and the kind of charm that makes a place feel like home.

Our server, Henry, was just as wonderful. Patient, kind, and quietly hilarious, he became the kind of friend you meet by chance and instantly trust.

Thank you, Uncle Mark and the whole crew, for the laughs, the stories, and the little pocket of bliss you gave us. We’ll be carrying that memory with us for a long time.

Excellent tasty food, great cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff.
The portions are slightly small, yet packed in flavor, and freshness.
We had dinner on a chilly November evening - the vibes were vibing.

Came here last weekend with my girlfriend on our Berkshires leaf peeping adventure. We arrived an hour before close which seemed like the end of a very busy Friday evening. Our server was super friendly and we had the delicious beet appetizer. I had the vermont grass fed burger which was absolutely delicious! I substituted the fries for some fresh greens. My girlfriend started out with the butternut squash soup which was delicious! She had the chicken dish which was amazing!! For desert we had the olive oil cake and a helping of ice cream. We loved everything about this place- The lighting and super cozy farm to table vibe! Hope we can make it back next time on another Berkshires adventure.

Some of us had the burgers they came out looking like a small tennis ball. We all said where’s the beef for the price ordered the fish. It was very disappointing overcooked and just sitting next to some boiled grilled cabbage they offered no other vegetables for the evening, it was $30 for the fish and it was in a bowl with a little broth and cabbage Not presented very well for the price and the taste was practically none. I guess we should’ve ordered the chicken that’s what everybody favors. The wine is good a bit high priced.

Went here for dinner with a group of 7 girls and were greeted by kind and friendly faces. The menu is limited (we were aware ahead of time) but the kitchen was very accommodating to our various dietary restrictions and allergies. We were disappointed to hear that a few of our favorite cocktails were unavailable that night but the substitutions were delish. I love how fresh the food is! Our group was able to try almost everything on the menu and nothing was disappointing except the vegetarian plate (very bland).

Possibly I am not hip enough to go to Prairie Whale. A group of us went on a Monday night in the summer when not many other options were available. The food was fine (but they seriously messed up one of our party's orders), but it was super loud and the service only average.

Great restaurant in Great Barrington. Their locally sourced ingredients help make for wonderful fried chicken and grass fed burgers

Wonderful dinner and experience at The Prairie Whale! Definitely recommend making a reservation because it’s very popular. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside and it was beautiful. They had a live band playing inside and the noise level was perfect outside. Our server, Isabelle, was fantastic! Super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Everything was super fresh, local, and tasted wonderful. We had 2 appetizer specials and the bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. We’ll definitely be back!

Waited 2.5 hours after putting our name in for a table and watched other walk-ins get seated before us. I guess it matters who you know. Service and food was good enough, but way over priced for what we got. We'll be certain to look else where next time
