Beautiful space and.lovely garden out front. Quaint and comfortable inside. Small food menu, but there are lots of great choices. Had the ricotta w toast and mortadella. I'm not a pork fan, but the ricotta and toast were delicious. Had the Hake cake, which was smokey and delicious, and the brick chicken, which was substantial and perfectly prepared. Extensive wine list. Had a French rose that was delightful. Waitstaff was pleasant and made good recommendations. Would return again and again and again.
I always like the Sunday music night!
Very average food that was served hot and fresh.. Is just nothing memorable or interesting. I had the fried chicken which was hot but all dark meat and the seasoning was boring. My group of 12 had almost every dish on the menu and we all felt it was just very average and most of us left half-full plates of food. Even the daiquiri was boring and not frozen and just average at best. Service was very good I might add.
Farm to table food, limited menu, awesome taste! A little on the pricey side (for us!). But totally worth it. Get a reservation as it is very busy!!!
The cocktails were quite tasty - worth trying!
If you have any dietary or allergies this might not be the place for you. They do not customize or change menu items.
For example, I was looking for some vegan options and there was def ways to get creative without much effort, but the chef wouldn’t do it. The waiter said nothing was premade so.. idk. It just sucks to not be able to eat at a place that has a cool atmosphere.
They’re def loosing a lot of business because of it. I’m not the first whose experience this I’ve learned from a handful of different local friends.
Let’s start by saying that this restaurant, tavern home of food is amazing. I’m reminded of a time long ago, in Brooklyn when a few eateries rained supreme, the waitstaff sat at your table, whether you liked it or not, and the specials were just that, special. Nothing is perfect but this is close and my date and I are so happy we came.
Excellent food! Fantastic Django Reinhardt style band on sundays. Super Unique! No complaints at all!

Phenomenal dining experience. Great vibe, food and drinks. Nice selection of NE craft brews on tap and the staff is very transparent about animal product sourcing.

Fun vibe. Good food, especially the fried chicken. Neither of us loved our drink (glass of wine & a cocktail) but we’d like to try this place again.

Reserved a table of six for a birthday celebration. Staff invited us to the table, we ordered drinks and appetizers to share. Every plate was great, all local produce, well presented and delicious. Steak tartare was exceptional. Mains were all very good, the burgers, the chicken under brick, the hake dish really delicious as was the tagliatelle with spicy sausage. Will definitely recommend this place. Keep up the great work!

Fun upscale pub vibe with good food. I think the name is a reference to Herman Melville, who lived in this area. The farm to table menu is delicious and the atmosphere is fun.

Some of most delicious food I’ve had in a while — and in a relaxed, family friendly environment. Easily 5 stars, would recommend.

Recently had an excellent meal at The Prairie Whale--crostini starter and pork schnitzel (special) were perfectly prepared. My only suggestion would be to trim back some of the foliage near the sign--it's hard to see and those of us who aren't locals depend on signage to know where we are going! ;-)
