We went to Burtons first and it was a 90 minute wait so we picked Legals as usually was good in the past. It wasn’t very busy which we were surprised as Derby was. Wait staff were very nice and we were seated right away. Lots of empty tables which we thought was strange. Well we found out why. Got the fried pickles, were ok, not great. Always look forward to the rolls and so sad-when they finally came out after the appetizer it was as though they weren’t cooked all the way and we couldn’t even finish them-side note we used to order more as typically couldn’t get enough. These were raw and tasteless. The ones they sell in the supermarket are so much better. Daughter got the hamburger as she doesn’t like fish. Couldn’t even eat it, so much grease and was just awful. Took two bites and couldn’t eat the rest. French fries tasted like fish, yes get it in a seafood restaurant but just couldn’t eat them. I got the fish and chips, fries were just ok but the fish was so dry and overcooked-ate some outside the overcooked tasteless breading. Waitstaff refunded the burger and were nice. We won’t be going back and so disappointed as this was always a go to place for a good meal. Guess we know why there were lots of open tables.

Legal C's is our go to dinner spot. Always excellent on all fronts from service to atmosphere but most importantly the food is on point. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

We are regular customers to legal sea food in hingham Derby Street but tonight we have had very bad service the waiters were visibly on something(medicated) She was not able to serve us any food or drinks. Food came to us very cold and to make a payment we had to call a supervisor because she was no where to be found.

The food is always delicious and they allow me to share a plate on which they add extra vegetables which makes a senior serving.

Terrible server - waited over 25 minutes for someone to come over to table and this was after we asked another server if she was ours. Chowder was cold - took over 30 minutes for it to come out. Would not return.
Ok, understanding that this was 'Chowder Day' and the take out line was packed.... The clam chowder was good, HOWEVER, the initial bowl brought was cold. The waitress apologized and brought new ones. Which were lukewarm. Too bad, I do love their chowder. I will say, had the right flavor, visible clams and not too heavy on the potatoes. I had steamed mussels - very garlicky and lemony (YUM) but I should have asked for extra bread for the juice. Trust me, ask for extra bread for the juice! Hubz had nigiri which he said was excellent. So just be careful if they're running a special - could throw off the dining experience
Smiling server, Victoria, was prompt & efficient! We enjoyed our lunch, including a healthy quinoa salad w/ grilled salmon & a Legal lunch combo as shown in the pics - highly recommend!

Service and presentation was top notch. Salads were fresh and crispy. Linguine with clams: pancetta was a nice addition with its saltiness. I felt the clams were overcooked, or maybe cooked twice to reheat? A sprig of green parsley would have enhanced the appeal of the bowl.

We went for an early New Year's Eve dinner and had the usual, first an OldFashioned with Buffalo Trace, then littlenecks, and then sole with olive oil and lemon. All were excellent as usual and 29 for the entree with two sides is very fair today.
Ordered a beet salad. It had exactly two halves of a beet. Filled with tasteless carrots. Cup of chowder always good but tiny. Soggy onion strings. Sad for a restaurant we always depended on.
Wonderful Christmas lunch with family and friends. Great wine and martinis. Excellent food and service!
Wedding rehearsal dinner. Service was wonderful and staff was very easy to work with when planning.

It was not a good experience at all. The manager was apologetic and tried to make it right.
