Love this place! My daughter lived near here for several years. This was her favorite. The food and people are fantastic. The plantain burrito and bowl are the best!

Stopped by today around 830ish to discover they were closed with a sign that said “CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!” with lights on and everything. So as you can imagine, I was just as shocked to see they were closed so early. It’s sad when neighborhoods staples like this come to an end. I was sure this place was gonna be one of those fast food places that was or sure would stick around for awhile longer. Hopefully this was just a short hiccup in the moment and looking forward to being able to have these random moments of pop in’s again.

Authentic Mexican food right in the heart of Jamaica Plain. Cross the street from the Forest Hills T station to grab some tacos or a burrito, then enjoy some homemade flan and a pineapple Jarritos. Grab and go or stay in and eat at the counter. Either way, Achilitos can't be beat.
Plan ahead if you're driving there. Street parking is very limited. Or you could park at the Forest Hills T station then cross the street. Your best bet is to take the train to get there.
The prices are a little higher than I expected when I walked in the door, but the food is really delicious and everything seems to be authentic & homemade.

Achalito's is sorta like Chipotle if Chipotle was much, much better. You can build your burrito, bowl, tacos, or whatever as you move down the line choosing from a wider variety and fresher ingredients than what Chipotle offers, and you'll wind up paying about the same price. They also have a menu you can order off of if you don't want to build your own (I always order off the menu, they have tons of great options).
I've ordered from this place at least once a week for almost every week of the year. They never skimp on portions, the food is always the perfect temp, and it's made very quickly. I cannot recommend Achilito's highly enough.

I ordered a spicy chicken bowl and add ground beef.
Thank God I did add extra meat seeing how I was given some of my chicken burnt.
Plus my chicken wasn't spicy

I tried the burrito. It said it came with salsa verde but the guy was about to roll it up without putting any and I had to remind him. The burrito wasn’t rolled the best, very loose. The taste was very watery. I could barely just taste the salsa verde and steak, the pico was just a soup in there - and again it was loosely rolled.
There was also a guy just asleep at the counter. Idk if he was a customer because there was no food in sight. Just asleep with his butt hanging out of his pants. Not a good atmosphere.
I just moved to Jamaica Plain 5 minutes from this place. Unfortunately the quality just doesn’t cut it for $17 for a burrito and drink. I wanted this to be my go to Mexican spot here but sadly this isn’t it.

I approached like a delivery driver. They keep you waiting too much and are being rude. They don't understand that this rudeness is scratching their own customers, not the driver. I never and never plan to approach that restaurant as a driver or a customer again.
