Delicious, elegant cuisine and inimitable atmosphere. Well worth a trip from a distance, but be sure to get your reservation first.

Walked in without reservation and got immediate seating at the bar. Great service but the kitchen was slower than expected. Last visit here we were a bit disappointed; the food had been under seasoned. This visit the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the pork cheeks bourgauigon and the glazed salmon with crispy skin.

Great food! Mushroom risotto had great consistency and the celery salad on top cut through the richness. The oven roasted chicken was the star of the show, perfectly cooked and flavorful throughout. Service was more than accommodating with the owner checking in on us multiple times to make sure everything was taken care of. Coming back soon!

Food is very good. Don't sit near the bar. Too noisy.
We had dinner there last night before a concert at Tanglewood. The server was extremely thoughtful and accommodating, adjusting my order per my request and bringing a new bottle of wine for my husband, all graciously! The food was excellent!!! Definitely will return!

If you go to Alta during the summer, I’d recommend making a reservation first. We walked by just as it opened for dinner and even though most of the chairs were empty, we were told they were fully booked. We managed to get seats at the quaint bar where they served a full dinner.
The delicious meal was served in larger portions than expected. The crab cakes were crispy balls served with cream corn that tasted like chowder—a kind of deconstructed crab chowder, if you will. The radicchio and greens on top of the green pea risotto gave it a nice texture. The herb-encrusted cod was cooked well. Both dishes had a heavy buttery flavor, which made for a rich meal—one I’d prefer to eat leisurely at a table rather than squeezed into a bar, which quickly became very crowded.

What a great restaurant in the heart of Lenox!! Aurelien, a most friendly owner, has created a little slice of happiness for your taste buds as the sauces to his dishes are amazing!! Even his turkey burgers are juicy and tasty! Lisa's specialty drinks, created by Lisa, the bartender, is different and a spicy delight! The desserts are to die for!!!! A friendly and fun venue combined with fantastic foods for everyone's taste!!!

Sunday night, service was good, but cocktails were warm and not very tasty. The food was bland. Way below expectations for any restaurant, and this was pricy.

I was genuinely impressed with the service here. My sister ordered an omelette, and while it took a bit longer to arrive than expected, the response was remarkable. After my husband and I received our meals, my sister was still waiting. When her omelette finally came out, the owner personally came to our table to apologize sincerely for the delay. He explained that the first omelette didn’t come out right, so he remade it because he wanted her to enjoy a proper meal. That level of care and accountability is rare—and it left a lasting impression. The food was good, but the service was truly outstanding. I’ll be recommending this restaurant for that reason alone.
Historically I considered Alta a go-to when visiting our summer home in the Berkshires. The interaction I had with staff last night tainted this perception. If someone forgets their identification at a relatively high end joint I’m accustomed to this person being greeted when the sincerest apologies that they cannot be served. Instead I was treated like an absolute degenerate until I went home and returned with identification. It really shouldn’t require management get involved to apply basic conflict resolution and customer service skills. Having worked in hospitality in the Berkshires as a teenager, I can confirm this is a must upon being hired given the echelon of visitors in the area. I’m sad I will no longer return here.
I've been coming here for years, and notice each year that the tap water has the STRONGEST chlorine smell. So order bottle water? Yes, last night I did. However, I'm also eating vegetables washed in that chlor water, and the soups are made with that same water, too. The brocolli soup had some after taste, and I wonder if that is the reason why?
So, I go once a season, hoping they have fixed this problem, but it persists. And it turns me off.
Granted, not everyone is as sensitive as me, but for those that are - it's definitely an issue!! It's funny, the restaurant the next block over has normal tasting tap. In my humble opinion, they would sure benefit from an in house filtration system.
Excellent, fresh food. Plenty of amazing options. Service was on point.
The dinner at Alta was perfect. I highly recommend getting a reservation though if you have luck like we had then there will be a cancellation. The food was great and the Mocktails were so delicious. The duck and the salmon were both so great and I highly recommend getting them as well as the crab cakes which were great. The service was amazing and they were so nice and treated us greatly. The wait is totally worth it, but the wait isn’t too long. The atmosphere was amazing and so beautiful.
