We saved Alta for THE special dinner of our trip to Lenox. Rave reviews on this site gave us high expectations and great anticipation. \nBut the food was just okay.\nWe were greeted enthusiastically by a friendly maitre d', and seated promptly. My wife and I had a short trip to the Berkshires and was given this spot as a recommendation. What a gem! Food, service, hospitality - all excellent. We both had the duck and it was some of the best I’ve had. No joke (and I’ve had dozens of plates, too). Make sure you get a reservation, though!! The host had to turn away dozens of people on a Saturday.
