My husband and I stayed for one weekend night recently, and were very happy with our room, the service and atmosphere! I loved the ambiance of each room, the fire pit outside and the coziness of our room. Checking in at the Constance was a breeze, and picking up our key on arrival was fast and easy. I appreciated the text updates that included reminders about where to check in and driving directions. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of everything, and the bar offered every type of drink one could want. I only wish we would have had more time and could have stayed longer!

Perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway. Cozy bar/lounge area and firepit outside. Rooms are well equipped and clean. An all around great experience!

First and foremost, the location is perfection. You are in the heart of Lenox within an easy walk of any restaurant, shop, or bar you'd want to get to. It truly is the ideal spot. However –I have never been to any hotel in the US or in Europe that made it as difficult as this one does to get information or communicate with staff. The only way to "talk" to anyone is via text, so if you don't text, or have a phone that doesn't text, or are someone who prefers to actually talk to someone, you are out of luck. This came to fruition for us when it was discovered that the directions for how to use the TV (available only by QR code) were out of date and the wall units were set only to blow hot despite the fact that some people may want to sleep with air circulating that didn't involve keeping a window open on a 45 degree night. As regards the QR code, the hotel seems to favor technology over practicality, so if you did want to get information the only way to do so is on your phone. I suppose this wouldn't be terrible if the information were current, but there were no directions provided for the wall air unit so the room experience was a bit frustrating. The room itself was fairly well appointed; not flashy but with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was small (Room #31) with no real space provided to put one's toiletries. I would also say that if you are smaller of stature (I am 5'1"), getting into the bathtub/shower can be a challenge, particularly without any sort of handrail to hold onto. The shower gel / shampoo / conditioner were also placed relatively high – for a much taller person – so getting to them wasn't easy, though the products themselves were nice. Finally, if stairs are difficult for you, do not stay on the 2nd or 3rd floors, available only via stairs.Would I stay here again? Really, I don't know. The difficulty of communication made me feel as if the hotel wishes to keep its guests at arm's length without providing any real customer service. It's unfortunate.

Stayed here for one night. The rooms are basic but clean and the location is great. Kudos to Jeff who helped us with an earlier than expected checkout - great service!

Great location in the few square blocks that constitute the center of Lenox. Ambiance is good and staff friendly/helpful. Room is super clean and bed is comfortable. Drawbacks: This is not a contemporary structure; so, no elevator available. If you have a physical limitation, Call the hotel ahead before making reservation so you are properly accommodated. Some rooms may not have much acoustical separation.

The Whitlock is apparently one of several hotels owned by the same company in/and/or around Lenox, Massachusetts. We were up for a one night stay to attend a concert at Tanglewood. We will be back to Tanglewood next year, but we won't be back to the Whitlock ever again.Which is sort of unfortunate because our room was a chat bot well appointed and comfortable. It was equipped with its own heat pump and television screen. The bed was comfortable and the place was clean.Unfortunately the television uses Apple TV rather than cable TV, place in the unit at the mercy of the buildings in adequate Wi-Fi system. If you try to listen to something as basic as a newscast, the broadcast will stop and sputter every once in a while due to limited bandwidth.Don't expect any personalized service from this place despite the high price. There's no literally no one staffed in this building after hours. In fact you'll get better service at an economy motel down the street. 11Instead of a front desk, you check in with whoever is tending the bar. Instead of asking the front desk for the Wi-Fi password, you have to call one of two numbers. You think they might compensate for the absence of a front desk by providing information about the hotel and the truck. But that's apparently too much of an expense for this company. The phone numbers to call and place of having a front desk or less than satisfactory. The first number is not answered after regular business hours. The second might be someone who is "on call," but they don't say that in their voicemail message so you can't really be sure if you're talking to someone who works at the Whitlock or if there's someone unrelated to this business. There's also a chat bot witch completely failed to respond to your inquiry. All of which is a great way to frustrate customers.I understand this is a cheap way to run a hotel, and one that maximizes profit for the owner. I don't mind paying for a nice place to stay, but one which has an invisible staff is not by definition a nice place to say. A hotel which is too cheap to provide adequate Wi-Fi service is also not a nice place to stay. And one that has absolutely no capacity for dealing with an emergency or difficult situation in their building after hours is not a particularly safe place to stay. For what they charge, they should provide more personal service.

The entrance is around the restaurant in the front and toward the back of the building. The restaurant is currently not operating. It's really cute outside, but the rooms were super plain. I felt like I was in an old-fashioned boarding house. A bed, a dresser, and two chairs. No table between the chairs. The chairs weren't comfortable to relax in. No amenities in the bathroom. Just towels and shampoo.Good communication before check-in via text. The check-in is someone sitting at a table as you enter the front door. It was fairly efficient. There are 32 rooms over two floors. No elevator. Parking in the back. It's one way in and out.Great location. Easy to walk to things in Lenox.I won't stay there again though. It wasn't cozy or romantic.

Beautiful hotel located right in town! The level of service is top-notch, rooms are clean, property is wonderful. Lots of different areas to hang out in. They have books and games available and an old-timey bar. Got cookies at check-in!

The property itself is very nice, charming, and well maintained. It is located right off the Main Street, which was perfect for wandering in town. It was also close to the nearby Tanglewood music venue, which is a great experience. The staff was all very welcoming and friendly. We loved their use of texting to make contacting the “front desk” easier. The rooms were very clean, very nice. Our room was a bit smaller than expected. We weren’t expecting anything grand, but there wasn’t a lot of room around our queen sized bed. The TV system is nice once you figure it out, but it seemed a bit complex for less tech savvy guests. Basically, they just have an Apple TV for you to use, instead of live TV. The downsides for us were value and noise. I understand weekend pricing will be higher than weekdays, but this was the most expensive lodging of our 2 week trip, and we easily got the least for what we paid. It felt priced for people who had no other choice, or didn’t know better, which we fell into. And for that high price, we didn’t even get a good night’s sleep. The building is old, which usually means loud, creaky, and thin walls. Other guests were loud in the hallways until early morning hours, but we weren’t going to call the after hours phone number and wake someone up just for this. And confronting another guest didn’t seem like the right thing either. Overall, it’s a nice place in a nice location with nice people, I am just wary of the value for what you pay.

It was hard to find the entrance and there was very little parking. We had to park in front of the dumpster which meant my husband had to move the car later. There were still no spots at 11pm (restaurant staff?), so he had to get up early the next morning. The innkeeper was not there when we arrived and the folks at Max were not happy that we asked if we were in the correct place. Website is deceiving. Much of the "public space" is actually attached to the restaurant and hard to use if not dining. It was very loud as we were over the restaurant as well. Need to update the website as we were unsure about breakfast and Ophelia's is no longer there. Bed was lovely as was the bathroom. No place to put a suitcase and no full length mirror. TV was extremely unintuitive. I would probably try one of the other properties next time.

The Whitlock offers a perfect location -- right in the heart of Lenox -- , lovely rooms, great character. The outdoor space is beautiful. Can't wait to come back. We're hoping they'll offer morning coffee next time!

Now that I have experienced a stay in your inn (see below receipt), I do not know how you could justify a Friday nightly rate of $771. I have reviewed availability on other Friday nights in July and August at your inn and your nightly rates do not even come close to $771. Most are approximately 50% or less. If your hotel had lived up to a rate almost equivalent to a stay at a Ritz or Four Seasons, I would never had questioned this rate. Here are the unexpected disappointments that were never disclosed when we booked the room: 1. No assistance getting our bags from our car in your parking lot to our second floor room. And, of course, no elevator. Not so great for 70+ year olds with medical problems. 2. Mostly unstaffed front desk. 3. No phones in the room. 4. While there was a large television in the room, you could only access it through Apple TV. Therefore, there was no access to regular television or cable news. 5. Very limited access times to the restaurant and bar. 6. No pen or paper. Wanted to leave housekeeping a t=note and a tip. No note, just a tip. 7. No clock. I recognize the charm, location and quaintness of the Whitlock, but it is not worth over $700 per night, particularly when the night before was $265. On a positive note, the limited staff are very pleasant.

Second year in a row that we've had a delightful stay for a spontaneous midweek overnight in The Berkshires to take in some Music and Theatre. The place is convenient, comfortable and very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Look forward to a future stay.

A beautiful inn. Very clean room with comfortable bed. Walking distance to quaint stores and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Lenox and would definitely recommend the Whitlock Inn. Beautiful area.

Excellent stay for me. I was a solo traveler meeting friends and we had a perfectly good time in town and the hotel was wonderfully quaint. Loved the location as it was walking distance to everything in town. I love historical homes so this was perfect. Beautifully remodeled bathroom was a plus!
