Excellent, superbly prepared Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Absolutely delicious Italian food. Home cooking family owned restaurant.
Couldn’t have had a better experience. We’ve dined with Vesuvius before, but not for a few years. Last Saturday, at the height of High School Graduation celebrations, we, without reservations, were welcomed at this lovely, rustic authentic Italian Restaurant in Lenox. We opted to sit at the bar, our preferred seating, but was also offered a table. Once seated at the bar our Bar Tender was attentive, friendly, and….charming! While we leisurely enjoyed our martinis and contemplated the menu, our Bar Tender was available to us for any questions we might have, but did not hover over us or rush us to order. In fact he presented such a relaxed demeanor we each had a second martini. We ordered the Melenzane Alla Griclic, sliced grilled eggplant which has been marinated in garlic, mint, parsley red wine vinegar and olive oil, served chilled. Delicious and light. Perfect as we finished our cocktails. A lovely white “farmers” bread came to us warm with butter soft enough to spread instead of the chilled butter packs many restaurants serve with their bread, warmed or not. For the mains, I ordered the Salmon and Gamberi Al Forno, which translates to salmon and shrimp in a basil butter sauce. The salmon and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and not over sauced. A small side of creamy white polenta was served with. My husband ordered the Boneless Beef Short Ribs which were slowly braised in a red wine Demi glaze and served on a bed of Parmesan risotto. Serving size was appropriate, leaning on the “plentiful” side. Dessert came to us as a beautifully, light fluffy Tiramisu, which the two of us shared. The tiramisu could have easily been shared by a table of 4! The menu at Trattoria II Vesuvio continues to intrigue us and we will return until we find our favorite dishes. Which may be never because they all look amazing, sound amazing, and we can’t wait to try them all. Well done Vesuvio. BRAVO!!!!
This place is underrated!!! So much better than the other places around here. I can't believe it took me 12 years to try this place.
Wonderful atmosphere, engaging and attentive staff and a menu of delicious options!!
We had another delicious dinner last night! The Eggplant Parm & Veal Marsala was perfection. This is an authentic Italian family run restaurant. The food is upscale and homemade. We are already planning our next visit! Oh don’t forget to order Ester’s delicious tiramisu!
My family and I had dinner here after a day is skiing at Jiminy peak. Service was great, food was delicious and the atmosphere was very rustic & lovely.
Had a great night out here. No tables available but they let us sit at the bar. Amazing food and wine. Osso bucco was fabulous. A must try if on the menu. Bartender made our night! One of our favorite restaurants.
What a wonderful spot, authentic food made with good clean ingredients by people who care. We loved our server and our meal ?
Carol and I were there a few times...pre Covid..and wile spending a few days in Lenox recently we decided to venture back.Let me say this. Our waitress had been on the job 3 days...so she has to work the bugs our..understandable. no biggie. But we were seated immediately. Greeted by our friendly server. Had our drinks promptly served and our meal came out in a very reasonable time.I had the chicken parm...very nicely prepared and had a great taste. And the sauce. Very nice taste also. The spaghetti and chicken came out on separate dishes...I've never had it served that way before but the taste certainly wasn't compromised.Nice atmosphere...friendly host...great tasting meal......

Waitress never offered drinks, we had to ask food was decent but not presented well. My fra Diablo was so spicy it overpowered the food. I would not return.
Our meal started with the waitress not offering drinks. Stuffed clam app was good. Food was decent but presentation was poor. My fra diavlo was so spicy I couldn’t taste the dish. I would not return.
They had a spot with short notice for us on a rainy Wednesday in mid August. I'd asked when I called about Gluten Free. The staff knew most everything, and checked a few just to be completely sure. Our veal and rib dinners were perfect. Good wine, and a chocolate mousse dessert finished a pleasant meal.
Up from CT for Tanglewood and grabbed some takeout. If you think this is Italian food please save some $ and get Chef Boyardee from local grocery store. Absolutely dreadful, judging by the clientele I'm not senile enough to pass this incredibly overpriced drek off on. Absolutely the worst in many, many years.
We had reservations and dined out on the patio that night was by reservations only. Restaurant does this to devote full attention to customers when staffing is low. The calamari, and steamed mussels were fabulous big portions enough to share. Calamari fried to a light golden color and served with homemade marinara. We could have stopped there but added a green salad and bruschetta. From my remembrances of dinner in Rome this place was equal in quality and quantity of portions. We also linguini with clams in a white sauce also a huge portion with many clams and presented in a beautiful dish. Please try this restaurant but MAKE a reservation.
