I had enjoyed exquisite brunches at the Cranwell over the years and had always wanted to stay at this property. A few years ago it was acquired by Hyatt and turned into a Miraval resort. When I finally had a long weekend to plan a getaway with my husband I jumped at the chance to book the Wyndhurst/Miraval. Alas, I embarked upon a nice but confusing weekend. I booked the Wyndhurst for two nights a Saturday night for $695 per night and the next night for $495. This excluded tax and the $35 resort fee. I was excited to use the Miraval spa as a part of my stay. When I called the spa to make reservations I learned that you could not use the Miraval facilities as a Wyndhurst guest. You could book a day pass (which we did) but there was no discount or special deal if you were also staying at the Wyndhurst. I thought they must be very separate properties. When we drove onto the property we went right up to the grand Wyndhurst mansion, where I had booked the room. The hotel was quiet as a doormouse. Not a soul to be found. Finally we found a staff member that told us we had to drive down to Miraval to check in. I was confused because I thought there was no connection. We checked in and then drove back to the mansion to learn that there was no elevator to our room on the second floor. A lovely staff member stopped his vacuuming to help us with our luggage. The room, a suite with a large sitting room and bedroom was very spacious and clean, however the view from the windows was of rooftop equipment. Not what I was expecting for $700/night. Overall this was a confusing experience. The room was nice and the staff, if you can find them, exceedingly helpful. Hyatt needs to figure out how to position this resort more clearly to guests.
Wyndhurst was so much more than a hotel and so much more than we expected. We will absolutely be back for the luxurious accommodations, the sheer decadence of those comforters and pillows, and the ability to live like Edith Wharton for a few days....Our only regret was the days we were there the restaurant was not open but we knew this when we booked. Plenty of great options in the vicinity but we will be back to sample the food there. Breakfast was terrific.
The bed was too soft. Making reservations was deceptive. Pricing is made known until an actual reservation is confirmed. You cannot speak with an individual. You are continuously reverted back to the phone tree.
Checked in. Employee came to vehicle. We gave our name and asked them to double check they were giving us the correct room key. Employee came back and had the wrong key. Bad sign. Finally came back with correct key, was to,d we had a great room in the mansion. Employee pointed to the mansion and stated that is where our room was. No information was given or told to us regarding parking, room service or anything about the hotel. Found a parking lot (very small) and made our way into mansion. There were no greeters and no signs directing you to room numbers. You had to guess. We arrived early so we had time to relax before getting ready for a Christmas Party. Our room was not ready so we went to the fireside bar to have a cocktail. The bar didn’t have the fire going and the bar tender was setting up the bar for the evening. Most bars are set up with bottles and glasses prior to opening. This was not. We heard clanging of glasses and bottles being clinked as they were restocking. Finally, he finished and started the fire. By then it was time to see if we could get into our room. Found the room (no signs with arrows and room numbers) and went inside. It was pitch black. The wall switches did not work. Had to use my phone flashlight to see. Found the room lights are operated by foot peddles. Wall switches were useless. Wall switches in bedroom didn’t work. The lights were on rocker switches. Ugh. The room was alright, nothing to get excited about. View was roof and parking lot. So much for the great room. Got ready, and went to find the party. There was a sign at the bottom of the stairs stating it was in the ballroom, but where the heck was that? No employee to greet or point the way. We were excited to see beautifully mansion type quality decorations. Upon arrival, not only were there no decorations, but the heavy drapes weren’t even all the way hooked to the rod. Sections of the drapes were just hanging down. The bar didn’t have a table cloth, rather it was just wood, not even nice looking. The staff wore jeans. Clearly, this is not the caliber we were expecting or used to. Due to issues with rooms being given out that weren’t cleaned or ready, several guests missed all the appetizers, including us. We were starving by now. They forgot the salad and went straight to the main meals. The food was very good. My husband stepped away from his dinner to get a drink. I told the waitress that he was not finished and to leave his meal. Someone came up to talk to me and another waitress took his plate. I tried to stop her, but was to,d it’s too late. Well, at least there is dessert. WRONG! They skipped that too! My husband was starving. Staff did not care. Bar: We ordered top shelf libations, which they did not have. They had to scramble to get the items together and were not happy. That was their screwup. One guest got a glass of wine for his wife. The bartender barely gave her enough to cover the bottom, not even a bar pour. Ugh! It had to be brought to her attention to pour good drinks as her mixed drinks were all soda with a splash of booze. Upon being spoken to, she did start making the drinks correctly. Unfortunately, she also began to help herself to shots and drinks. The night, with the exception of great friends and colleagues, was a bust! How can a place of such stature be such a flop! The list of screw ups is beyond what is written. Clearly jeans in such an establishment should be prohibited. Who hosts a Christmas Party in their Ballroom without Christmas Decorations? Who forgets 2 Courses of the meal? What bartender gets buzzed at a party she was working? Crime sakes at least hang the curtains. The funny part of the curtains was the fact that it even bothered the guys at the party. We return to our room and found the heat kept climbing up. We couldn’t adjust the thermostat so had to open the windows. Breakfast: There was a sign saying our breakfast was in the ballroom. Still no decorations, curtains still half of the rods, but the worst part was the tables holding the breakfast selections had no table clothes. You could
It’s an old historic building that the rooms have been remodeled in. It still needs a lot of work. Our “upgraded” room was terrible. We had a wonderful view of their HVAC system. We checked-in and checked right back. Miraval next door is a better option. If not at Miraval there are a lot of better options in town
My husband found this beautiful inn for a last minute weekend getaway to the Berkshires, which we had never visited before. I was a bit wary when I saw negative reviews but we were thrilled with the entire experience. Sharon greeted us when we pulled in to check in and every staff member was warm and attentive. We stayed in room 1315 in Beecher's Cottage -- amazing! We had a private porch with a mountain view, so we ordered room service one night. Delicious and quick. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub plus the outdoor pool and found the entire place to be peaceful. Housekeeping was excellent, bed comfortable and lovely room. We definitely plan to return. Also -great location a five-minute drive from downtown historic Lenox's restuarants, galleries and shops.
The room was very shabby. The main light flickered on and off. The plumbing was loud and was noisy every time another room used the shower. The only casual restaurant was only open for breakfast and lunch and was closed one day during our stay. It was not worth the price. We will not return.
We are happy our stay at Wyndhurst is over. There are zero amenities here . We should have been told our room would not be cleaned for 3 days of our stay! Even though there are cleaning people in this building just sitting on the stairs. The mantra here is we are short staffed. Maybe at the time of booking at very high prices they should mention this! We won’t coming back here.
Old property, unevenly renovated. We had two rooms in Beecher cottage, one of which was lovely and the other was rundown, awkward and with poor AC on very warm summer nights. Intermingling of Wyndhurst and Miraval properties is awkward as Wyndhurst cannot enter/access Miraval buildings all of which are right next to each other. Very nice gym equipment/space.
The suites were four to a building that were constructed poorly since you could hear the foot steps of the folks on the floor above us as well as to hear their toilets flush. The amenities were not up to the price which was $700. Per night. Not landscape to provide a comforting environment but lots of paving.

Love this place, we stayed here a few years ago and loved our room in the mansion. They recently remodeled and made incredible improvements to the rooms and bathrooms. Most comfortable bed and pillows on the planet and we travel weekly . Highly recommended staying here .
Wyndhurst isn't perfect, but it is very, very good! Getting the imperfect out if the way first, if your room is in the Beeker's Cottage and above the first floor, you will have to climb stairs inasmuch as it doesn't have an elevator! Regarding what is done well: The decor is refined, the mansion is an architectural gem and the grounds are beautiful. The bed linens are first rate, the bathrobes are comfy and the breakfast is tasty and we'll served. In short, try it you are almost sure to like it, especially if you get a room to which you don't HAVE to climb stairs.
My wife and I came here for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed 2 nights in the mansion and golfed Saturday afternoon. The grounds weer beautiful and our room was spectacular. Golf was great and the whole staff was very friendly. It was easy to tell that they were excited to finally have guests. Overall our stay was fantastic. The one drawback that sticks out was breakfast. We ate breakfast at the Mansion bistro on Saturday morning, which was good, but very expense and included a 15% F&B fee that was also taxed. They also advertised a deal that included breakfast with the room, but this extra fee was not included. They could have just charged 15% more for the item, the extra line item was cheesy. It's the small things that people remember and this was one of them.
It’s a nice hotel, has nice staff and spacious rooms. But when we came the room wasn’t cleaned up and took 1 and a half hours to clean up. TV wasn’t that good , hair dryer didn’t work , bed wasn’t comfortable, shower isn’t that hot and we have to wait at least one minute. No study desk either.Otherwise I would have given this a two star rating
Beautiful place! Great escape in the country!
