Good food, the place is a low quality bar, nothing special but the food .
Plastic table cloth, checkers white and red, candy machines, the set up poorly design, good fish.

Great atmosphere and spot, but the lady I ordered my To go from assured me they didn’t use the same oil to fry the seafood in as they do the other fried food because of a shellfish allergy and that was false when she said no they use separate frailties with separate oil. It was an expensive food trip to the er and wasted food. It’s too bad because the onion rings were good the few bites I had. But I won’t return.

A Delectable Feast from the Ocean
If you’re searching for a meal that truly celebrates the bounty of the sea, look no further than a perfectly crafted seafood platter. Recently, I had the pleasure of enjoying a seafood platter that surpassed all expectations and set a new standard for freshness, variety, and flavor.

The platter arrived beautifully arranged, with an enticing selection that included succulent shrimp, crispy clams, flaky fried haddock, and sweet scallops. The presentation made this dish as delightful to look at as it was to eat.

Every item on the platter radiated freshness. Notably, there was no trace of fishiness—just the clean, delicate flavors you’d expect from top-quality seafood. Each bite demonstrated that only the best ingredients had been chosen.

This seafood platter was a true celebration of the ocean’s gifts. Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or a newcomer to the genre, this platter will leave you savoring every last bite and planning your next visit. Highly recommended! From the minute we walked in the door our friendly bartender Danielle made us feel welcome and at home. We will be back!

The place is rather old and dumpy, but the food in the service was excellent. When dining in, they don't use silverware but rather plasticware. I went there with two other guests and they were happy with their meals. Two of us had the baked haddock and our only complaints is they used too much butter during preparation. Next time I go, I'll ask them to use less butter and that should fix that situation. The fish was a good sized portion and was fresh and reasonably priced. I guess with all the money they save by not maintaining the place they put it into the food and its preparation. I will go back again and try something else on the menu to see if it stands up our previous meals.

Great local seafood place! We always get the fisherman’s platter with onion rings to go.

Captain John's is amazing! Their bacon-wrapped scallops are to die for! The steak tips were great and the whole belly clams and fried scallops were perfect!! Best restaurant is surprisingly amazing it looks like a pub from outside but seriously the bacon-wrapped scallops are fit for Newbury Street!!! Is there a coleslaw is unique and amazing it's like The Best coleslaw I've ever had in coleslaw is such a boring food usually! The onion rings are awesome they are homemade and thin sliced.
I'm from New England and I love this place for outstanding seafoof and great options

I agree that this is a hole in the wall but the food was excellent and the service also excellent. I prefer to eat on china plates rather than paper and with metal cutlery rather than plastic but I’ll make the sacrifice for this food!

We love it here. We are a large party that goes once a month. We were worried when it changed hands but DAMN the food is FANTASTIC. So fresh plentiful and made to perfection. Cheryl, our server is always pleasant and she’s become a good friend. Takes excellent care of our party. Drinks are reasonable and well made. You really can’t go wrong. It may not be a really “pretty place” but if you’re looking for quality seafood you must go! Great place to have a good meal with friends. They take credit cards now too!

We will be back soon!

It was great food once a long time ago but now with new owner I went there I ordered the fisherman plate I was disappointed in the amount of food I got barely any shrimp and fried clams on the plate and a tiny bit of fish. I cooked fried fish at home and it's better than this place I will not come back to this restaurant I am done with this place. Good luck with the with the new owner he just ruined this place.
