Food was alright. Had some tacos. Good flavor...heavy on sauces. Was oddly dead inside for being close to a college. Servers just kinda hanging out. Would try again sometime but not first choice in the area.

Great place, but don't go when the high school championships are playing at the tsongas arena. The place gets overly crowded and you won't get

Love this place!! My friend lives nearby and I can walk there from downtown. The atmosphere, the people, the food, are all terrific! My son loves their toquilla selection when he visits, and he is a connoisseur!I can’t wait for patio weather!

Terrible service from the waitresses, they don't serve well with a bad face, it really doesn't work, the waitress took half of the drinks to throw away when there was half an hour before closing, as if one of the free ones was going to consume 300, we spent there just for the waitress to throw away our drinks and served with bad character if they don't like doing their job they should look for one that they like but I really don't recommend it terrible service

We drove down from Maine to meet our NY college daughter and boyfriend for lunch last weekend (they were there for a sporting event.). Parking was very easy. The host was so warm and inviting. We were there early (lunch) but it started to fill up with folks that seemed to be regulars. We were so impressed with the food. Hot, fresh and very reasonably priced. We had California fish tacos with homemade corn tortillas (yummy), Shrimp fajitas, beef fajitas and Tacos al pastor. We were full! They also were generous with the guacamole that we ordered with chips and salsa. The beans and rice yummy too. Generous with the fajita fixings. The host was our waiter and he was so nice and accommodating. He brought us homemade hot sauce as well. The biggest gotcha was the drink menu prices were very out of date and a $9 glass of wine was suddenly $13. They fixed it because we complained but we didn't blame the host/ waiter. Chips were ok but again the salsa, guacamole was so good. You could see that it would be a really fun place to go to at night. Overall, it was great place and we were very satisfied with it.

*BEWARE OF SCAMMER SERVERS*I've been to El Jefe many times over the years and I've NEVER received good service. Always mediocre at best. But I would come since it was in a convenient location with solid drinks and acceptable food. I went with a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon where our server forgot about our table (despite not being busy), she had even even told us that was what happened. I go to pay the check with the tablet, after I hand her my card she suspiciously takes it into the backroom and when I go to fill in the tip, there is an already added gratuity of 20%. I was going to tip her even though the service was worse than the already mediocre expectation I had, but I did not appreciate being scammed. The receipt was conveniently folded in half such that it wouldn't show the auto tip added. I will not be visiting El Jefe in the future. A mediocre business is only getting worse.

This was my first time going here, and it wasn't that bad. The only problem I had was that falafel was too dry, but the vegetarian tacos was pretty good.. Will give them a try again.

Dear owners: If you are going to close the restaurant due to snow please update your hours with the apps. I ordered through Door Dash and it said food was available for pick up. I trudged all the way there in the snow only to find that you were closed. I'll bet many other people had the same experience and are now angry and frustrated. Please work with whatever apps you use to ensure this doesn't happen to others.

Ignore the 3.8 stars. This place has amazing food. The pork belly taco bowl is the best thing, and I CRAVE it. This place is awesome.

Went to get dinner at 8.30pm on a Saturday night. Website said they'd be open. Big sign above the door said they were open. Front door was locked.

I would recommend going if you have hours to just sit. We sat 10 minutes before anyone knew sat at the bar and the bartender moved at a snails pace. That being said the food was awesome.

I ordered takeout and I was shocked to see what I got. The tacos are tiny and overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area. I had ordered the Mexican street corn and I couldn’t even tell you what I got. I was expecting to get Mexican street corn (elote) but instead was shocked to see fried balls of corn with cotija instead. If the corn balls were good it would be one thing but the flavor just tasted off to me. If there had been a description what it would be, I would not have ordered it. I had been told by other students to not get food from here and unfortunately they were right.
