Great food.

My wife and I recently had our wedding reception dinner at Koshari Mama. It was a wonderful event and everyone (about 40 guests) enjoyed the delicious food and had a great time. Sahar worked with us before the day several times both through emails and in person. She and her sister made their very best effort to be accommodating and to make sure our experience to first class—and it was!

So beyond worth the hype! This tiny vegan restaurant has been on my list for years after seeing great reviews on here. Finally made it there tonight for my birthday dinner and wow wow wow I couldn’t critique them if I tried. We shared the Mezze plate to start which was so incredible. The muhammara specifically, I’d have licked the plate clean if I thought I could get away with it. I got the Moussaka for my main which was so flavorful and cooked just right. Paired it with the Tamarind Hibiscus Refresher which was an excellent choice! Others at the table had the Koshari and Falafel and said they were delicious as well. We had basboosa for dessert and the waitress brought me out a special evil eye bracelet for my birthday. Such a wonderful experience, if I lived closer my wallet would be in trouble.

Best Khoshari I’ve had outside of Cairo! Food was flavorful, days layered were still talking about this spot. Highly recommend the Khoshari bowl, Muhummara, Falafel, and lavender lemonade.

Got food from them different times, nothing amazing just mediocre. If you wanna try “Egyptian” food, not bad to give a try. Although I do agree with some reviews of unfriendly service and low quality of ingredients. They delivery catering to nearby companies, that may affect their quality.

Koshari was burnt, lentils not cooked properly and it was very dry. My partners moussaka was completely unsalted and was soaking in oil. For some reason there was a disco ball at 8pm and the lights in the room were constantly turned up and down. The servers were kind, but not attentive.

We went there hoping to get a taste of Egyptian food but food was so bland. The gentleman serving us was not welcoming at all. The main dish we went to try was the Koshari which is a mix of rice, lentil, chickpeas and pasta was served with the chickpeas not fully cooked, probably a canned chickpeas.
Overall not satisfied with the experience and I hope they can improve both their food and service.

Great customer service and vibe but the koshari itself wasn't good unfortunately. The lentils were undercooked, onions burnt, and the sauce didn't have much flavor or spice. Everything was just pretty dry, even with the added olive oil. The tamarind hibiscus was really tasty though! Hope to come back and try other things instead.

Some meals feed your hunger, but a rare few feed your soul.
Tonight at Koshari Mama, I experienced the latter.

From the very first bite, I was transported—not just to Egypt, but to a kitchen filled with love, where every ingredient carries a memory. The food was not just delicious; it felt like it came straight from a mother’s hands. Each dish had that unmistakable warmth you can’t replicate in commercial kitchens—only at home.

By the time I reached dessert, I found myself genuinely overwhelmed with emotion. It wasn’t just about the flavors (which were exquisite), but about the comfort, nostalgia, and care that came with each plate. My heart was full, and yes, my eyes had happy tears.

Koshari Mama isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a reminder of how powerful food can be when it’s made with love. I can’t wait to return.
