The restaurant closes at 8:30 PM and we arrived around 7:50PM. Before coming, we called ahead and were told it was okay to come in.
However, when we arrived, the staff told us they didn’t have time to serve us, even though it was still an hour before closing. This was disappointing and confusing, especially since we made the trip based on what we were told over the phone.
If the kitchen closes earlier or they’re not accepting customers close to closing time, that should be clearly communicated so people don’t waste their time.
An absolutely wonderful meal
Fantastic food, a lovely atmosphere, and impeccable service. Best restaurant in lowell. Highly recommend!

I will never be recommending anyone to come here ever. This place has a rule where it says that you are allowed to dine for 90 minutes but only able to order in the first 60 minutes and limits to only ten items per order. I came out with my family excited to eat hotpot and enjoy dinner as a family with this knowledge. However, each item portion is small, and extremely delayed on delivering the items on the table. Not only this, after each order you must wait 5 minutes before ordering from the menu again, which basically restricts the purpose of all you can eat and defeats the entire experience. Every order of meat consisted of 2-4 slices of meat no matter that amount of plates you requested in that one order. I explained my concern to a server, and requested to speak to a manager. I came to find out that not only did another server approached me and asked about my concern, there was no manager on duty. This shows an extreme lack of leadership in Shabu Shack’s industry and shows that this place is strictly ran by poor management. After we expressed our concern, the server expressed an apology, provided an extra 2 plates of meat after our 60 minute order period was over and said, “We will do better next time.” There will not be a next time, do better Shabu Shack!

The food was fresh and delicious. First time trying hot pot, the staff were very patient and attentive with walking us through the options. We will definitely be back, thank you!
Special thank you to woman behind the bar, so friendly and welcoming!

We’ve been to this restaurant several times, and while the food has always been just okay for the price ($29.99 for all-you-can-eat hotpot), this most recent visit was a new low.
First, the selection at the self-serve bar has become very limited compared to before. They still have a 90-minute dining limit, which is standard, but they’ve now added a hidden rule that we had never been told about: you can only place orders during the first 60 minutes of the meal.
What makes this worse is how they apply it. More than half of our party arrived a bit later, and the first few people who arrived were told to go ahead and start by choosing the soup bases. What they did not tell us was that this action would start the 60-minute countdown, even though not everyone had arrived and no actual eating had begun. By the time everyone was there and ready to order, most of that hour had already passed—without any warning from staff.
On top of that, the portions they bring out are extremely small, and the serving speed is painfully slow. We would finish what little they brought each round and end up just sitting and waiting for the next one, which made the 60-minute ordering window feel even more restrictive and unfair.
When we asked about this unclear policy, we were told to wait for the manager—who took nearly 20 minutes to come over. And when she finally arrived, she spoke to us with a condescending attitude and essentially said, “What more can you expect for $29.99?” The contempt in her tone was shocking.
I’m not sure how other customers feel, but we’re done with this place. We won’t be coming back and we DO NOT recommend it to anyone. No restaurant should treat customers with that level of disrespect.

We visited this restaurant today and had a disappointing experience. The menu selection has become very limited compared to before, and the overall service was extremely slow. Some items, like the mushrooms and edamame, were not fresh. No matter how much you order, they only serve very small portions each time, which makes the dining experience frustrating and unsatisfying.
It’s also not a good deal. They only allow one hour to place orders, yet the food comes out so slowly that it feels like they’re wasting your time on purpose. Overall, this really affected our meal, and I do not recommend this place.

Strange vibes, bad neighborhood, GREAT mai tais and lychee margarita
Would be great if they updated this place permanently closed since we drove to it approx 25 minutes and looks like it’s a new spot

Service was slow for all you can eat for the small portion that you get. We were also capped out on ordering more food when it felt like we didn’t get half of what we ordered either and with how long we had to wait for the food too. Also, over heard the workers talking saying we were there for 2 hrs and that there’s a time limit on how long we can eat, which wasn’t stated anywhere. If there was a time limit then I feel it’s a scam with how long you have to eat and how long it takes to even get our food including the small portion size. Yes, we were there for 2 hrs but an 1hr and 30 minutes was us waiting on the food to come out. I highly would NOT recommend this place and rather spend the time and gas money to go somewhere further to get a better experience. It’s ridiculous how much they try to cheap out on people.

I loved it. It was my 1st time having hot pot. It was a lot of fun, the food was very good and the staff was great. I would totally go back. I think the restaurant is actually named Wee Thai food hot pot and grill. They both occupy the same place.

Typically nice and quiet! Really good atmosphere and the meat is great. A little pricey at the end of the day, but not without good reason. The staff and patient and helpful, portions are good and you always leave feeling full and satisfied. I’ve gone a few times with friends and I’ll definitely be back
