Phat Thaiger - Thai & Japanese Izankaya

This place was such an unexpected gem! We had originally planned to eat at another restaurant, but they didn't have any availability, so we decided to walk over to Phat Thaiger instead. It ended up being the best surprise of the night.

The atmosphere was a 10/10! The place is cute, cozy, and perfect for a fun night out. The menu had so many great food and drink options that it was hard to choose. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and by the end of the meal we were already talking about what we wanted to come back and try next. I think we ended up ordering something from almost every section of the menu!

I would highly recommend Phat Thaiger for a date night, a girls' night out, or really any occasion where you want great food, creative drinks, and a fun vibe. We'll definitely be back!

The temaki box wasn't good. The seasoning felt awkward, and there wasn't nearly enough seaweed included — then we found out extra seaweed costs extra. For the price, the box felt overpriced, like it was made from scraps of the wagyu and sushi fish. Charging extra for more seaweed on top of an already pricey box just not worthy.
The Phat Tiger wings were good, though I've never seen a place serve the wing tips along with it before. The steak fried rice generally tasted good, but again, the portion was noticeably smaller than what's shown in the menu photo. The indoor environment was nice. Not much serving.

Tried out this restaurant with some friends for their AYCE menu. They seemed to be pretty slow, took a while getting our orders and then bringing out food. The waitress also seemed annoyed with our orders. They then only brought out half the sashimi we ordered. After the second order, they kept “forgetting” items we had ordered like ice cream and additional appetizers. Finally, the receipt had incorrect automatic tips listed, for example, the 20% tip for a $500 order was almost $200. They fixed it once we pointed it out but it still ended up feeling a bit shady. Will not go back

Came here for lunch after seeing them on an episode of phantom gourmet. Was not disappointed at all. About an 11min walk from the orange line station, nestled in a small lot next to a car dealership and across the street from a mechanic, this bold red building is hard to miss.
The inside nailed the feel of a, larger than, standard izikaiya in Japan. The staff was super helpful and accommodating with everything. 3 on the waitstaff and all 3 saw me and every other table with patrons.
On to the food....
2 skewers (1 scallop 1 quail egg), an order of takoyaki (4 balls instead of 6), unagi-don, shrimp fried rice (with an egg yolk ☆☆), A5 300g wagyu plate with enoki mushrooms, and a pitcher of Sapporo. 150$ after a well deserved 20% tip.
I'm going to say they're a solid 4.5. The only thing that I'd like to see different are 6 takoyaki instead of 4, and the 22 oz cans of Sapporo.

This place is awesome! All of the meats and veggies were cooked to perfection and service was great. I loved the atmosphere and general vibe of the restaurant - we will be back!

I am a big foodie, have been traveling and love to find something exciting. This is the most creative restaurant in the Boston area in my opinion. The design of the menu, texture of the food and how they go together give me such excitement. I can tell the owner and chef put a lot of thoughts in developing the menu and give wonders to the fusion experience.

Been here twice, once on a date, and once with the kid. In both instances, you should like anime playing on the TVs and seafood. This is geared as an upscale sushi joint that also has some isakaya menu items. The food was spectacularly seasoned, extremely fresh and flavorful. They appear to have a 50% off nigiri special on Sundays, and of course a full bar. We will definitely be frequenting them again.

The vibes were immaculate, the food delicious , and the staff were kind, considerate and attentive. This is the perfect place for a friend group , a date , or even by yourself . The inside decor in the restaurant will brighten your mood / bring a smile to your face. The food and drink presentation were amazing. The food was crazy good - the chefs and cooking staff clearly know what they are doing. And the staff were seriously so kind and attentive. They brought us food on the house , they inquired with the chef about a recipe for us, always made sure we had our water filled , checked in with us about the food , and even ran our to-go bags out to our car because we accidentally forgot them at the table . 10/10!

Advertised as casual Thai-Japanese fusion, but every plate is high-end deliciousness. The staff is incredibly pleasant and helpful, making Phat Thaiger my favorite restaurant in Malden.
