This was always a place we loved. Husband grew up in Marblehead and we came back for his reunion. We were excited to eat at Maddie’s. I ate here all the time when I was prego with our youngest; 24 years ago to date. Our first day landing , we immediately went for a quick bite before the Red Sox game; drinks were huge, as always. Food was far from good. My clam chowder, which I had always loved had ONE tiny potato in it and mostly broth?? My husband’s steak tacos, awful! Today we decided to at least go get some shirts and sweatshirts and we were met with the nothing but rudeness. Female older lady told us we would have to come back as they were too busy to get our shirts and this was not a request but basically her face said it all, no smile, no we are sorry… I was a bit taken back by the rudeness and lack of kindness. What happened to this place? It’s gone downhill!! Another reason we love Chip, and choose to take our business to Three Cod! Good food and great hospitality. Your employees are the face of your business and hospitality the backbone to success. Do better Maddies!

The scallops and lobster risotto is out of this world. I am not a bar person, but was told it had the best scallops in Massachusetts. They were perfect bites of pure joy and decadence. Our server was attentive. If I was a beer drinker, the atmosphere would be a 5 star too, but otherwise, everything else was magnificent.

This was the best food for the best prices and the best portions in all of our travels through out New England. When it is busy the whole restaurant is incredibly loud, but on slower nights the atmosphere is wonderful.

Maddie’s is such a charming spot. The Topsail area pours a strong cocktail, and the ambiance is hard to beat. That being said, my friend and I went a few evenings ago, and for being a slow night, the service was very slow. We also had some apps (a Caesar and some Mozz sticks) and neither was very good. The Caesar was nothing special, and the Mozz sticks weren’t crisp nor was the Mozz pulling apart. Our drinks were good and full pours, though, and the ambiance is worth a visit. Might just be back for drinks.
One of my favorite spots in Marblehead. They have great beer and the food is phenomenal. Sometimes it gets too packed for such a small place but it is the best so sometimes worth the wait. Highly recommend to any one from out of the Marblehead area when visiting!
