Frankly this restaurant is one of the very best on Nantucket; however being outside of Town it doesn't get all the accolades it deserves. From appetizers to dessert our group of 8 had wonderfully prepared and delicious meals and appetizers; food allergies are taken very seriously which is gratefully appreciated. Thank you to the entire staff for taking great care of us all. Hats off to the Bar and Kitchen crew too!! Job well done 👍
French fries were super greasy and disappointing. Lobster roll was good. Halibut was average - not much flavor.
A word of encouragement - Island Kitchen needs to revamp their menu & produce food that is above “Poor”. The Crab cakes were loose and runny, the Buffalo Chicken was poorly prepared & sauce drenched. Experiencing Island's Breakfast was the same experience- pancakes that were tasteless, sausage patties which were awful quality & yes, coffee which tasted “burnt”. Writing a dismal review is only helpful if the Restaurant takes the reviews to useful examination. For Islsnd Kitchen the only way is up!
Food was very good but the portions were somewhat small for the price especially the bolognese hence the low rating for value. Otherwise ok.
So good that I had dinner here two nights in a row! Servers are both friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Definitely take their recommendations seriously. Halibut is delicious, as are the scallops. Other family members had steak frites, pork dumplings, brussels and apple goat cheese salad. All were wonderful. Have not been to Island Kitchen for dinner before but definitely will be back again soon.
Was a great restaurant. Only issue we had was service, we sat outside and it was a little cold at 730 pm. The waitstaff was friendly but a little short staffed as it took forever to get drinks and to take our order. I loved the food and quality.
Island Kitchen is very popular and will remain so no matter what. Attractions include kid-friendliness and a kid's menu. The restaurant attracts large families and other large groups, so it's not the best choice for proposing marriage. The food is good, and the portions are large enough, particularly the salads. There is lots of seating, mostly outside. The waitstaff is professional. I do have a few complaints, though not serious ones. The first is the plastic plants on the tables. Nothing at all would be better, but I'm sure that something living could be managed; many plants are low maintenance. Second, our waiter, who was otherwise perfect, reeked of cologne. I have worked in many restaurants, and particularly with respect to fine dining, no perfume or cologne is the rule. Strong scents are even discouraged for diners. The final issue was with the delivery of my entree. It was brought to me when I had an empty salad bowl in front of me. I picked up the bowl so the server could replace it with my entree, but he did not try to take the empty bowl from me. I suspect the server was part of the kitchen staff. That's fine, but if kitchen workers are to deliver food, they should be trained accordingly. I appreciated the bread service. The bread is not served warm, but at least there is bread. There is a little wine for sale, but no real wine list. There is a large parking lot. The restaurant has tried hard to shield the diners at the outside tables near the lot from cars, but dining there (my husband asked for that space, I wouldn't have) can seem like eating in a parking lot.
Everything was delicious - inclusive of the kids meals! My spicy cob was sooo good and my son's steak (which we were hesitant about) was excellent.
Affordable dining on the island and a great Thai salad and burger but nothing else was that exciting !
The food was excellent and the portions sizes were just right. Best brussel sprouts I have had in a long time!

Caesar Salad & Truffle fries are the ultimate girl meal! The outdoor seating was impeccable! The pistachio coquito ice cream is a definite must after a scrumptious meal!
Very good food at normal prices for Nantucket. Good service. Uncomfortable chairs so ask for a cushion. Small tables, seating section in the parking lot entrance is a bit nasty.
Delicious dinner and beautiful spot for dinner! We loved the halibut dinner and calamari app
Service was very good - attentive but didn't feel pushed. Food clearly came straight from the kitchen as soon as it was ready. Truffle fries were tasty but overly greasy. Salad and salmon were excellent. Halibut was outstanding.
Food was very good. Enjoy outdoor dining but perhaps some type of separation from parking lot would improve the ambiance and noise.
