I spent a weekend in the Cagney cottage at the Summer House when it reopened and I have to say it was truly the relaxing escape I was hoping for. The island has become so crowded in town and we were able to enjoy Sconset and the Ocean Views. The chef this year is spectacular and I enjoyed my dinner there both nights. First I had the lamb and then the next night the Bolognese. The atmosphere was so fun and welcoming with everyone singing around the piano and you could feel the excitement of having an iconic Nantucket summer favorite back for the season!!

The Summer House is back -- and better than ever! We booked a table for eight the night after their big re-opening. The place has been spruced up and the vibe is cool and sophisticated in a classic, oceanfront setting. The service was prompt, water was poured, drinks were ordered, warm rolls materialized with olive oil dipping sauce. The menu featured some old favorites and some new temptations. Each of us ordered something different. A half portion of Bolognese as a starter? No problem! Watermelon and feta salad, DELICIOUS. The entrees were extraordinary: Linguine a la Vongole with tons of succulent, small clams, a large piece of expertly cooked swordfish served with a mushroom risotto, Chicken Milanese with arugula -- all the entrees were large portions, great value, and totally worth the calories. The pianist tickled the ivories while patrons sat at the charming bar and, looking out at the nearly full moon over the Atlantic, we were happy, sated, and glad to be back at The Summer House. Come dine at the most beautiful spot on Nantucket -- you won't be disappointed.

I normally don't write reviews anymore but the situation here compels me to do so. I've been a visitor to Nantucket for many decades and would often eat at the Summer House and went to their pool as kid 30 years ago. It used to be pretty nice, but the owner, Ms. DeBenedictis, has cut corners, and as a result, it has gone downhill badly since the mid-2000's... Food quality, staff morale and building safety have all been compromised. Her restaurant had an electrical fire on the top floor where here workers slept, and another one of her restaurants was condemned by the town health department for code and safety violations. The restaurant's owner is basically Nantucket's version of Leona Helmsley. I still visit the island regularly, but never again will eat here. Some many better places in town that have better food at comparable prices.

Booked restaurant (got email confirmation ) for daughter’s special birthday. There was no one there and it was closed ! We went across the road to their sister restaurant and while it was open it had no staff or customers at all. Shocking and I wonder how they would react if we had no showed. At the minimum an email would have been warranted

This was our second time here, worth the ride. Happy to see they are back and better than ever. Need to come back for the beach area. One of the best filets we have ever tasted. Swordfish was amazing as well.

Went there for a romantic birthday dinner, having gone there over the years. Nice room, they did a good job repairing it. Really noisy with lots of loud talkers and a kid playing videos, with sound, right next to us. Felt like I was at Denny’s. Asked to move and they did. Food was good, service was good. Ordered a sole special, a piece of fish with some spinach, and was quite surprised to learn on paying that it cost $85. Spoke to the waiter about it and he told us that Dover sole is very special and expensive. That’s great, but verbally pitching an entree that is twice the price of most entrees and not mentioning the price is at best deceptive.I will not go back, there are way too many other great restaurants on Nantucket.

The view is an A+ but the menu is limited relatively speaking but you are paying for the ambiance. There is a nice area to sit outside with perfect ocean views. The food was good overall albeit straight forward - Drinks were actually very good and surprised us as we didn’t expect it

We went for cocktails on the beach. Not only were the drinks poorly made but they were way overpriced!! $50 for two cocktails and we couldnt even drink them they were so bad! Not sure we will be back unfortunately.

Very good appetizers and cocktails. The service was OK. The dining room was beautiful, we had 7 and the table was very comfortable. Some liked their dishes others thought they were ok.

Honestly - one of our best meals and experiences on the island. We have eaten at ALL the top tier restaurants and i have to say the Summer House is near the very top of our list. We sat inside and listened to the music - could have stayed all night listening to him! And the sunset - last nights was particularly beautiful- and we got to enjoy that from our table most of the night. Service was impeccable - the host took our drink orders right away and within minutes of sitting down we were indulging. Very attentive staff. Food was outstanding! The swordfish and halibut were our favorites. Forget what the other reviewers said - it IS worth the ride to sconset. And what is better than sconset in the summer?!

Great family place with a bar scene for adults. Outdoor seating was nice, quiet with a lovely view of the property and garden. Indoor seemed like more of a party scene with louder music but there seems to be a good balance between both. The food was all very good. Strip steak cooked to a perfect medium rare. Linguine was a little on the salty side but still pretty good. Clam chowder and arugula \\u0026 watermelon salad was a great starter. Service was great. One of the better meals we’ve had on the island.
