FridayNightOut

We had 6:15Reservations and were a little early. The Hostess sat us immediately and within moments a server brought over and informed us that our server would be by soon to take our drink order. Drinks and appetizers were ordered. We noticed that our server not only took our order and placed into the computer, but she was manning the bar as well. Despite this, she brought out our drinks and apps quickly - the bacon wrapped scallops and calamari were delicious. She gave us some time before taking our dinner order. I had the Surf and Turf Special as did one other person. Mine was perfect, while his scallops were under cooked and the rib eye was fatty - more so than typical. The Half Brick Chicken dinner was just ok - but honestly, who orders chicken at a seafood restaurant, the Cod special, the Tropical Sriracha Salmon and the Baked Cod were all very good. As for the cocktails, the espresso martinis are a must have and the Mango Lemonade were outstanding. And I cannot say enough how impressive our server was. It looked like she was filling in at the bar as well as taking care of several tables. I can't speak for the other tables, but she was continually checking with us, making sure we were well taking care of. I wish I knew her name, because she did a masterful job. We will be back! Oh, and the view of the scallop boats added a wonderful sense of where we were and is always impressive to look out at as you dine.

Overall the experience was underwhelming. Our table had not been cleaned & needed a good wipe down after seating. Silverware was dirty. The menu does not tell you that wine comes in a 6 ounce & 9 ounce glass & is not priced as such. The food was okay though lacking any flavor & coconut rice is simply white rice with strings of coconut throughout. Nothing seems to have changed since it's prior named restaurant in 2017. Wait staff was great! The bar and TV seemed the best part of Merrills. Not likely to return.

The cucumber drink needs to be taken off of the menu and the schrod was tasteless and boring. Lobster cakes, chowder and stuffed quahogs were great. Our server Rebeka was amazing !!!

Beautiful view with a great server! Jordan was very attentive and informative with the menu. I was happy to see the restaurant had a separate mocktail menu.

I recently dined at Merrill’s and had an exceptional experience. The waiter, Jordan, was incredibly attentive, making sure our dining experience was nothing short of fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious, and to our surprise, they had a great deal for half-price appetizers which made the meal even more enjoyable. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite; it was simply yummy! I highly recommend dining here especially if you're lucky enough to have Jordan as your waiter.

Had a fantastic dinner out with the wife. We sat at the bar and had great time. Love the new pre-meal bread with oil. The young woman bar tender was a perfect combination of professional and playful. She did a great job interacting with the people at the bar. We did a lot of laughing. Very nice atmosphere and great food. Looking at the fishing boats only feet away out the window is also a nice touch.

Loved the whole dining experience. Our waitress was efficient and attentive. My salmon was the night's special and was delicious with a garlic cream sauce, asparagus and thin homemade potato chips. The view overlooking the fishing boats was unique.

Merrill’s On The Waterfront is a treasured Venue and Menu in New Bedford. Robert August , the event coordinator is the most vibrant, enthusiastic person that we had the pleasure to plan our 30 person event..He was filled with creative ideas and welcomed all personal suggestions..He was so passionate and inspired to plan a perfect event..He has a very high degree of efficiency and enthusiasm making it a fun time for all. His team spirit was remarkable. His staff had a rhythm , oneness, and harmony which was exemplary.. They took the Que from Robert and ran with it..!..Dave the Chef and kitchen manager outdid himself…. The food at the Sunday Buffet was fresh , delicious, and the presentation was gorgeous..( we come from a family of several restaurants)…The meat carving station was off the charts as the endless Buffet options..The event was a gift and Blessing to us all.., that we will treasure in our hearts forever..it was our son’s 50th Birthday surprise party..!..Thank you Robert and your whole staff..a day we will always remember…Harvey and Noreen KertzmanVegetarian options: Plenty of choicesDietary restrictions: Whatever you needParking: Plenty of spaceKid-friendliness: Perfect meal choices for kidsWheelchair accessibility: Wide doors..

Our food came cold. We sent it back and it was still cold. It was not busy. We both got the roast beef special. One was about a half inch thick, the othere was a quateer inch thick. We were very disappointed. We wont go back.

I was so excited to get dinner at Merrill’s. I was in Pennsylvania the previous week and a restaurant I dined at had New Bedford sea scollops on the menu, which were tender, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Needless to say, I was wicked excited to get them in New B at a waterfront restaurant where they literally come off the boat. I ordered the orange ginger scallops with coconut rice and mashed potatoes as sides. The rice was crusty and dry, the potatoes were creamy but cold and slopped on the plate, which made for a very poor presentation. The scallops were the most disappointing- small and rubbery. No sand..not saying they were frozen but they sure weren’t fresh. My friend got the Portuguese steak which was good, but again no culinary integrity in the presentation. For advertising a “fine dining” experience, with mediocre food at best, the very least they can do is pretend to care by making the plates look presentable and the food edible. As for the service, the waitress was friendly enough, but didn’t refill our very small (and dirty) water glasses once nor clear empty plates from the table. We put our drinks in right away and the food came out before the drinks. There were only 2 people sitting at the bar both whom had full drinks, but the bartender was engaged in conversation with them that was obviously more important than doing her job.I have no issue with paying a good amount for good food, ambiance, and overall dining experience, but unfortunately Merrill’s fell quite short on all three for me. I will not return.
