Loss of words it was so good. The staff was lovely. Packed Friday night. Made the magic happen with the food. Best lobster roll I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back. Don’t even think twice. If you’re looking for a lobster roll. RUUUUN! Just stooooopid good!

My husband and I researched restaurants on line prior to our trip to New Bedford. We decided to try Quahog Republic. This was on Saturday evening, October 11, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m.
We were the only patrons in the restaurant. The server brought water and menus. I can not name her because she failed to introduce herself.
She never returned to our table. After twenty minutes, while she and two others stood at the bar watching something on an I-Pad, we made the decision to leave. As we stepped out the door, she laughed and shouted after us “come again.”
As a side note, every other restaurant in the area was packed and had wait times.

We would recommend this place overall. Our mains were very good. The salsa app was not though. The chips were chewy and it seemed like the salsa was from a jar. They were out of the first 2 beers we ordered, but that happens. Pricing was reasonable. Atmosphere was great!

This is a cozy bar that serves delicious food! I always get the monster lobster roll for $40, but this year they doubled the price at $75 with French fries.... And $9 for a quahog??? I go to this place once a year but this time my lunch totalled $100.... No alcohol either. Probably won't go back. Sad

Unable to sit outside on a beautiful summer day because they don’t have umbrellas?! Food was below average and overpriced for the area. Calamari was overcooked, fish and chips were average, Cuban wasn’t good and the chourico melt was lacking in every aspect. Will not be returning!!

I wanted to try something different so I had the poor mans surf and turf it was a hotdog and a quahog . The hot dog was overcooked and chewy served up on a sub roll that was dry and hard to chew. No clams in the quahog !!. My spouse got the grilled chicken sandwich. The Chicken was cut into four pieces . The sauce that was supposed to be on it was not put on . Best part of the meal was the fries. The bloody mary i had was ok but didn't seem to have much liquor in it and i dont really drink.
So a hotdog with a quahog rang in at $19.50
Grilled chicken sandwich $15
Island cream sickle alcoholic beverage $13.
Bloody Mary $13 both drinks were loaded with ice in a pilsners cup

Small but mighty restaurant very convenient to the whaling museum. Chowder, fish and chips, and chicken Caesar salad were all terrific. Generous portions reasonably priced. Attentive servers. Only downside for people with aging backs was the seating ... be sure to snag a comfy back cushion. Highly recommend.

I think their food had gone down hill. Chowder was all potatoes and cream base. Minute pieces of clam were few and far between. Lobster roll: the roll was the highlight of the meal. The lobster I believe was frozen, not fresh and it was tough. Stuffy was small but tasty.

The Bloody Marys are legendary.
What a great surprise. I had no idea that this neighborhood of New Bedford was so cute. Its a superior version of Charlestown and Portsmouth combined.
The menu is a fantastic representation of contemporary New England Cuisine.
The beer selection is great too. It's always nice to see Maine Beer Company represented because I believe that it is the best brewrry in the USA and these days we need some sunshine.
Had the clam chowder very thick and flavorful. The churchy fish sandwich was very good Crusted with corn flakes and almonds.
Excellent Burger and the Lobster grilled cheese to fly for ...
Thumbs up whalerls Tavern
This use to be one of my fav places to eat. I won’t be back. The crunchy cod had no flavor. So odd. The $5 up - charged truffle fries had a few scallions & Parmesan cheese but no truffle oil. Zero truffle taste & they use to be amazing. The Cuban sandwich had no flavor including no aoli as advertised. The quahog use to be outstanding & it’s much smaller now with a soft creamy inside. It was an all around disappointment & waste of money. I don’t understand it.
