Small but mighty restaurant very convenient to the whaling museum. Chowder, fish and chips, and chicken Caesar salad were all terrific. Generous portions reasonably priced. Attentive servers. Only downside for people with aging backs was the seating ... be sure to snag a comfy back cushion. Highly recommend.
I think their food had gone down hill. Chowder was all potatoes and cream base. Minute pieces of clam were few and far between. Lobster roll: the roll was the highlight of the meal. The lobster I believe was frozen, not fresh and it was tough. Stuffy was small but tasty.
The Bloody Marys are legendary.
What a great surprise. I had no idea that this neighborhood of New Bedford was so cute. Its a superior version of Charlestown and Portsmouth combined.
The menu is a fantastic representation of contemporary New England Cuisine.
The beer selection is great too. It's always nice to see Maine Beer Company represented because I believe that it is the best brewrry in the USA and these days we need some sunshine.
Had the clam chowder very thick and flavorful. The churchy fish sandwich was very good Crusted with corn flakes and almonds.
Excellent Burger and the Lobster grilled cheese to fly for ...
Thumbs up whalerls Tavern
This use to be one of my fav places to eat. I won’t be back. The crunchy cod had no flavor. So odd. The $5 up - charged truffle fries had a few scallions & Parmesan cheese but no truffle oil. Zero truffle taste & they use to be amazing. The Cuban sandwich had no flavor including no aoli as advertised. The quahog use to be outstanding & it’s much smaller now with a soft creamy inside. It was an all around disappointment & waste of money. I don’t understand it.

Came here for the stuffies (in my opinion they had one of the best around). Got them recently and completely different recipie and portion size is 1/3 of what they used to be. Disappointed and rest of menu very small.

The 42 dollar large Lobster roll is very tiny and bland. The rest of the menu is overpriced, definitely won’t be back.

We were there mid afternoon on a Friday so maybe we didn't get the regular cook? Cup of chowder had absolutely no solids in it, just some tiny pieces of bacon. I didn't have a good vibe so I thought I'd order cheese pizza to be safe, but it was undercooked and flavorless. Again, we didn't get the "fresh seafood" vibe so my wife ordered the portabello sandwich, she said the mushroom was undercooked, but of course the frozen fries were tasty. Our server was busy and also a bit distracted with an unruly patron but she was very nice! It's a bar so probably a better environment for drinks, etc.

Not many food selections but the better things are so expensive. The quahog is so expensive for barely anything inside. Feels like they've changed. And the rewards is spend 300$ and get 15$ off. . . Seems extensive and not for the people.
