I was visiting a friend and live out of state, she recommended me and my girlfriend try this place since it’s super close to her house. Walked in at a rush for brunch on a Sunday so expected a wait. I was told 45 minutes and decided to walk around town as we waited. When we finally got notified a table was ready we then waited an additional 20 minutes for a server to even come up to us. Every table around us at the time sat down after us and was getting served, we eventually asked someone when or if we were gonna be served and waited an additional 10 minutes. The service here is absolutely terrible but the food is definitely worth it! Just expect ridiculous long waits if you decide to come here!

Overrated Long wait, slow service, and the mimosas were undrinkable — tasted flat and off. A 20% gratuity was added automatically to our bill without clear disclosure. Not worth the price or the hassle.

Went for dinner on a Saturday. Bread was beautiful, fresh. Servers were really nice guys (I believe Nick helped us) working together, and the pork alentejada was by far the BEST dish I’ve had at a restaurant in America, period. So fresh, tender, ENORMOUS portion, and simply well done. The whole meal cost well below what I expected with no “catch.” I’m making a point to visit every time I’m in NB

I honestly do not understand the good reviews. We had breakfast there, the service was mediocre as was the food. Food came out cold, under seasoned. I had egg shells in my omelet which was probably worse than it not being hot. Definitely would never go back and repeat it.

I post because I eat

OK, so places is great. Food came out so fast honestly before my drinks, I usually don’t like. I didn’t mind because my kid was super hungry so it was a win! Not to mention, it was pretty busy Sunday morning

Ordered some flan to go and I accidentally left my credit card in the machine. I was walking on the sideway 2 blocks away already when I saw the cashier was straight-up sprinting after me with card in hand. What a good guy, this place gets an automatic 5 from me for amazing service.

First time eating at Tia Maria's. I'll be honest, there's better places in the city for Portuguese food, but it wasn't bad in anyway. Finished my meal off with a Galao, perfection.

Place is very nice, food was good. Just that the portions for lunch a bit small. But service was great and food was very tasty

This sad little sandwich is what they call a “Turkey Pesto”… 2 slimy pieces of deli turkey thrown on top of 1 slice of cheese and some cold, wilted spinach. Just awful. There are so many better restaurants in the area that actually take pride in what they’re serving.

I went to Tia Maria’s for breakfast today after not visiting for quite some time, and the experience was disappointing compared to past visits. I ordered a western omelet, which was just average—it wasn’t fluffy and had very little meat. The bigger issue, however, was the service. The waitresses all seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming, which really impacted the overall experience. Even my guest noticed the same negative attitude from the staff. Unfortunately, this visit left a poor impression, and I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon. Hopefully, service improves in the future.

I had the Azores burger w the amazing sao paulo cheese and pineapple and a fresh ans fruity sangria. Othets in my party really enjoyed the handcrafted iced coffee drinks. Reasonable prices for great flavor, quality, atmosphere and friendly service

They have slipped. Excellent when first opened, but the breakfast is a little higher than most local establishments & I wouldn’t mind that if we got quality and quantity. On our last visit I got the sweetbread french toast which consisted of 3 small rounds & a couple of squirts of whipped cream & slices of strawberries to try & fill the plate. My husband was very disappointed as he ordered the Benny Mozambique. The eggs were not poached. They were two small hard egg cups with thin sliced linguica. I used to love it here, but our last 2 visits were not great. My daughter did not have any of the specialty items and hers was the most generous. It breaks my heart, but I don’t think we will be back anytime soon. We have better places closer to home.

The food here is excellent—the baked goods and meals are always a win. The lattes, though, are more for looks than taste as the nata coffee was so bland. If you’re after a great latte, I’d stick to a real coffee shop, but definitely come here for the food. The nata especially is flaky, fresh, and so delicious!
