When a sip of champagne lays down a foundation, what can you build? Be inspired. Do you love clean food? Do you love creativity? Do you support, sustainable communities, chefs & atmospheres? Tell one thousand people 50 people at a time. This place is amazing.

We’ve been back in the States for some 10 years now. We moved to S Dartmouth full time last year after only spending summers here and are just beginning to explore restos in NB. We’ve been hearing good things about Union Flats so we decided to try it and break out of our Bayside, Back Eddy, Sail Loft rut. We ate at the bar which had wide, comfy seats that didn''t leave your legs dangling and a nice deep bar surface. Emma served us our drinks and food. It was our 48th anniversary so naturally we had champers before and during the meal. We split a half dozen oysters which were fresh and delicious. For mains she had the monkfish bib bim bap and I had the dirty fish and chips. Dirty fish and chips were tasty and creatively sauced. I eat a lot of fish and chips but this one was unique and tasty, fish was perfectly cooked. My wife raved about the monkfish dish. There was a lot going on in terms of flavors and textures and the fish and egg were perfectly cooked. We lived in Asia for eight years and I watched my wife shift casually between her chopsticks and then knife and fork, then back, depending on what parts of the dish she was eating. Off the charts in terms of creativity which actually worked. Emma provided superb service. Highly recommended.

We eat here as often as possible, usually once or twice a week. The food is always delicious, the service is friendly/fun, fantastic selection of drinks always fun to sit at the bar or outside, and their commitment to environmental sustainability, organic and regenerative farming, support of fishermen/women, small, diverse and intentional business support, community awareness and human rights makes it an even more support worthy restaurant. This is a feel good place on all levels. They are living their commitment to building community. All the food is great and the smash burger is soooo yummy! I can’t say enough good about this place. Brunch is OUTSTANDING too!

Really wonderful place - great atmosphere, excellent service (Gwen!!), all with a true commitment to the neighborhood and fresh local food . . . can't say enough good things. My family held a big party here and the staff were accommodating, warm, and extremely competent. Everything we ate and drank was splendid: beautiful fresh oysters, delicious crabcakes, tom yum brussell sprouts, monkfish bib bim bap, mozambique fish sandwiches, great cocktails . . . all really really good. Eat here now.

Food is always fresh and full of unique flavors. Bartenders make great drinks. It has a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of the old whaling industry. After having their take on calamari (green curry and goose berries) I can't order it from any other restaurant!!!! And the lemon lavender martini, mmmm so good!!!

Excellent food, service and ambience. The red thai curry mussels, the clam chowder and the fish and chips with the spicy drizzle twist we're really outstanding.

No fuss fine dining! Loved the creative energies of Chef and front of house. Our waitress, Gwendolyn, was so informative and guided us through the menu explaining the fabulous dishes filled with unique flavors. Can’t say there was a favorite and we tried a lot. Swordfish collar tacos were amazing! The finest, truest sustainable restaurant. Can’t wait to return. A must before or after the ferry or simply a destination dining experience. Well done!!!

We visited in June 2023. I chose this restaurant based on a smaller menu ( giant menus are a red flag for me) and it did not disappoint. Our entrees were delicious! The cocktail’s fantastic and dessert Devine!!Chef owner Chris took the time to come over and chat with us. He tries to use sustainable ingredients for a creative menu. Check this place out. You will not be sorry! Kudos Chef Chris!

So many restaurants advertise "local seafood," but how many do you think host the fishermen who actually caught the fish? Union Flats is more than a restaurant, it's a project. Chef Chris is dedicated to his mission of transforming fish that would never make it onto traditional menus into memorable, delicious dishes that will have you coming back over and over again.

Fantastic!! The curry with the mussels and calamari starters are brilliant together (dip your calamari in the red sauce); main dishes excellently executed and oysters were tasty (need some Crystals hot sauce though (everywhere is lacking the magic in the N.E.)).Good local beer choices and great service; we'll be back....may bring my own bottle of Crystals.
